I’m glad and loved how they dealt with like exploring her Trauma and actually enjoyed that cutscene with Uther and Ranger General Sylvanas however I don’t think I can ever forgive Blizzard for letting Alex make Banshee Queen Sylvanas go from like anti hero to just straight up unforgivably evil

Alex Afrasiabi the man who was obsessed with killing off fan favourite characters or straight up making them villians and was mentioned by name in the Blizzard lawsuit retconned that she was directly involved

I think it’s weird that people even call it a redemption at all. All that the last patch of Shadowlands did is just make her own up to her crimes and accept punishment. That’d be like saying that every criminal who willingly went to jail to serve their time was “redeemed.” Sure, she gave the good guys some hints on how to defeat the Jailer during the 11th hour, but that was really the least she could do after helping elevate him and his plans for so long.

Because they wanted her to be killed off which tbh going off the fact that well it’s quite obvious that the Shadowlands story is a mess I bet was Alex Afrasiabi’s original plan before he was finally fired along with probably Tyrande maybe even others
Like honestly remember seeing people getting upset when Blizzard made it so Elune denied Tyrande the kill on Sylvanas but I really don’t know if they understand that if Elune didn’t interfere the power of the Night Warrior would also kill off Tyrande which would of been an even greater loss for the Night Elves

It’s funny you mention that, because there was a short story shortly after Wrath where Sylvanas, having achieved her ultimate goal, throws herself off of Icecrown Citadel to off herself.
…Except they wrote it to have the Valkyr, for literally no reason, resurrect her.
Honestly her dying at the end of Wrath would have been fitting: Her ultimate goal was revenge against Arthas. At some point the writing team disagreed.

I’m not glad at all honestly, but kudos to those that are.
Personally I feel killing her off would have been letting her off too easily for her crimes, so condemning her to redeem the souls trapped in the Maw feels fitting as a punishment.
Kinda why I don’t agree with egregious crimes in reality where the perp is executed: it feels more punishing to make them suffer with their guilt behind bars than let them off lightly with death and let them think they died a martyr.
Yeah it was after Wrath of the Lich King and the start of Cataclysm her Character started to change aswell so… like her one goal was complete she ended her suffering but instead banshees save her and she then basically becomes lich king 2.0 but she serves the horde which made no sense
Have had hour long discussions about how her apparent desire to kill everyone was to create an undead army to stand against the Void. Retcon the visions from the Valkyr to show her that possible future, and you start to build off of what happened with Sargeras.
Not only becomes more of a plausible, somewhat understandable turn for her character, but also hammers in what we already know about the True Big Bad they keep hampering on about.
