How many of you are Genuine Solo Players?

Just asking this as an interesting question, and perhaps to gauge exactly what’s going on with the forum community here.

Do you consider yourself a genuine solo player?

Without getting too far into the specifics, I’m mostly asking if you have a strong preference for playing the game by yourself and without other players.

This isn’t necessarily saying you avoid group content nor socializing, or that circumstances have forced you into strictly solo activities. It’s about the preference here, would you rather do things on your own rather than in a group?

I would say the label applies to myself, I’ve always been something of a lone wolf (pun not intended) and prone to just… wandering off, doing my own thing. Group activities and group content are just things I just do from time to time, not really my reason for playing the game. Been in a guild and raided for a while, even enjoyed it; but at the end of it, I was just wandering off to do my own thing as always. Eventually stopped raiding with them not due to any drama or frustrations with the group, I just had to go do my own thing for a while.

I’m just curious how many feel similar, and what commentary people can provide about their own experiences with this sort of thing.

In that I terribly dislike playing WITH other players in this game…yeah, ‘solo’.
In that I find myself playing with group content to get something I want, not always 100% solo.

put it this way…if this game is ever for sale offline, solo, the entire game from classic thru the last expansion, I’ll buy it and never log in again.

95% solo

I can’t commit to anything due to rapid developing family aggro. I’ll do LFR and BGs because I can be replaced easily

I mainly play m+ and pug 100% of my keys. No interest in raiding or anything else within the game of WoW.

I have a work schedule and a wife/kids that will never allow me to commit specific playtimes to a guild or a push group, so I’m just happy hopping on and running a few keys through LFG

Hmm… I thought I was clear enough with it being about preferences, but I guess I’ll have to clear a few up:

The question was more about preference. You can’t realistically expect anyone in the game to go 100% solo for one reason or another. But judging by the rest, you do seem to be a solo player.

The question was more about preference than circumstances.
So time permitting, would you prefer to do solo or group content?

You seem to be implying that you’d prefer to do group content with a dedicated group, but circumstances are pushing you towards PuGs. I’m getting the impression you’re not really a player who doesn’t prefer doing things solo, but the circumstances are pushing you towards the less social option.

I think the game is a lot more enjoyable with others you enjoy playing with! Roleplaying, for example, requires a lot of folks to row a boat. Can’t do many stories if you are the sole character!

That said.

All of my game content is solo. Solo Delves, I pug raids, and solo Visions. I solo queue PvP. My guild is RP focused and I prefer it that way, but that does come at some cost.

I’m pretty content with it, all things considered!

Well in my case it is not a preference, it is a limitation. My RL schedule is such that I just can’t carve out time in my schedule to dedicate to a guild.

Yeh there are PUGS but they have their own issues and with Follower Dungeons and Delves they are just no longer necessary.

I’m almost exclusively solo when I’m not helping friends or guildmates with stuff. My lifestyle doesn’t easily allow me to allot blocks of time. I’m always having to help with something around the house or dealing with a random work call. Solo playstle works best for that.

No. I do play by myself usually, (70-30%) but i far more enjoy when i enjoy the game with others. I do not do M+ because of the pressure (I respect people play to be the best and want to play with others that feel the same) its not me and I don’t want to slow them down. So when an old friend and I can do stuff together - i love it.

I love being part of a guild, and raiding with my guild.

But other stuff, like running M+, I often find that I can crank out like 4 or more M+ dungeons just pugging in the time it would take me to organize a single run with friends.

Definitely a preference solo player here. I did have a group of friends who I raided with regularly in BC up to the end of Wrath, but then most of them stopped playing and from then on I played basically entirely by myself starting with Cata.

I love seeing the lore and an alt aholic, so I have one of every class on both factions to see all the story (which has made me incredibly sad that since WoD except for a brief bit in BFA there has been nearly zero questing experience different regardless of faction of the character) only grouping for non-raid content again to experience the lore of dungeons.

Follower dungeons were my favorite addition to WoW in a long time, now able to experience all dungeons as intended without other players, who in dragonflight before they were added had already turned even normal non-heroic/mythic dungeons into a ‘go go go’ mythic runs, and now Delves.

Though I enjoy talking with the people in the guild I am in, and if they ask me to hop in and help with something I will without qualm, but I get my enjoyment and enjoy playing primarily solo.

I like being around people but I don’t like doing things with people. It’s just solo for me now. If the reward is good, I will do TW because it’s so fast and rarely toxic. I’m done with group content requirements and toxic players.

I’m a solo player by preference, I just don’t want my progression to be dependent on other players which is why I came back to TWW.

I still do group activities every now and then, I like meeting other people and I put together groups for delves when I want to mix it up. But ultimately, I prefer to go at it alone 90% of the time.

I’m mostly solo.

I’m not skilled enough for m+.
I’m just a bad player.

I’ve tried low keys several times and I am awful. I hate getting cussed out and i hate feeling like a failure so i don’t bother with group content anymore.

My main is disc priest and resto shammy.
My average pve iL is 650 and pvp iL is 675 and I’m happy with that.

Delves, quests, random battlegrounds, LFR are my content now.

I got old is the reason i went solo, my reflexes aren’t fast enough for m+ and raiding anymore, i think anyway.

I started in early 2005, so I’ve been around for a minute.

I think I am primarily a solo player because the current group content is either not fun or interesting to me (Mythic+) or I cannot commit to the time or schedule necessary to participate regularly (raiding).

If player housing genuinely has great neighborhood features, then I will absolutely come out from under my rock and engage. I want to be part of a community in the game.

In the modern game, yes… since Pandaria, I have participated in group content only a few times. Maybe 4 or 5 times. For an odd dungeon if necessary. The last time was in Dragonflight Season 1 for a spark quest. I’ve never done a mythic dungeon when it was current. I’ve haven’t been in a group raid since Pandaria. I prefer it that way.

However, during Remix I grouped up daily for a while but only for content I couldn’t solo and only until I could solo the content.

I am hoping I can solo the dastardly duo event as well.

Right now the only thing I prefer to do solo would be an 11 bountiful when I’m going to play the map. I only want myself to blame if it all goes sideways.

But any other instanced content I want to run with my friends, because it doesn’t matter if we succeed or fail, it always ends with laughter.

Isn’t that what this game was designed to do? Bring folks together to have a little fun? Yup, that’s what it does, for this player anyway.

I’m solo :100:.

All that it takes to break 99% of “solo” players is one cosmetic/mount/housing customization item placed behind the proper group content.

They’ll be group players within the hour of learning of it.

Or they’ll be on the forums crying about being gatekept from their desired pixel.

There is no in between.
