I have a really hard time understanding why on earth someone would want to WATCH someone play world of warcraft – especially PVE.
So I’m curious. Any WoW twitch viewers here? Why do you watch people play WoW when you could just be playing yourself?

Not even once.
Why suffer playing the actual game when folk can watch someone else who actually enjoys that suffering?
To answer your question though, I don’t watch streamers. Grew up before it became big and just never found it to be my thing.
Sometimes I watch to preview a dungeon or see new content but it’s always with the sound off.
Unfortunately most streamers are entitled and think all their followers should farm things for them and be amazed at their skills while they sit on their buttocks for several hours a day.
I spend most of my time watching dog and cat videos.
My viewers either watch for me and not the game, are interested in running arena, dungeons or raids with me, are interested in seeing if I will get Invincible this week or are just watching out of nostalgia and not wanting to shill out money for an active sub they wont play.
I watch the food channel on Twitch lol.
The last thing as a WoW player I want is the watch someone else play WoW.
A couple of times I will watch world first race. I see them trying new style but gets old fast. I also feel the same with arenas.
Personally I love watching HOTS so I am already a weirdo (Though MOBAs are popular I just don’t like LOL or DOTA2)
Edit:
I have actually watched a few streamers when I have been trying to get free Mythic + carries but only stay around if I like their chat.
People don’t really watch any game for the gameplay, except maybe Battle Royale streamers. You watch because you like the streamers personality
I never have. I also don’t trust the numbers when there’s more views than game subscribers. Its all rigged. I only watch football handicapping shows but they arent twitch streamers. At least they make me money.
Chats can make or break streams imo. An active chat feels good for the streamer and have interaction and builds community amongst chatters.
not me. 10/char
(yay my mog is finally back)
When I choose to, it’s for one of the following reasons:
All that said, I don’t watch WoW streamers too often. With SL being released I’ve checked in more, but don’t stick around through entire streams.
Only if somebody links me a clip or such. Otherwise I avoid twitch entirely.
Dude same.
Like, I have a really hard time understanding why someone would want to WATCH someone play a sport.
Don’t they know they can just go out and play it themselves?
while my addons were updating, i would check out a notorious multiboxer who currently only does classic AV.
now that i gots the overcurse addon manager, i haven’t opened the twitch app
The anti twitch crowd in wow is one of the reason this game is dead on social media and will die from the lack of ability to pick up a new generation of WoW players.
Not once. Only time I ever really watched another person play a video game is back in the 90’s while waiting for my brother to hand me the controller.
Must be a younger generation thing that I clearly dont understand. My nephews used to watch people play Minecraft for hours. Even though my nephews had a game console and tablets for themselves, they would rather watch others play…i dont get it. At all.
I watch one or two. Why do people watch sport when you can just play sport? Why watch cooking shows when you can just cook?
I can watch a streamer while I do chores, draw, wait for stuff to render out, etc… You don’t necessarily watch for the game play, you can watch to see parts of the game you don’t normally do, watch for the banter, keep up on news I can’t be bothered reading up on, etc…
I don’t get why people get so annoyed that others watch streamers, if you don’t like them, don’t watch them. Do people gripe that people read lore books instead of going and checking it out in game?
I don’t watch the ones that spam in game trying to get viewers though.
