According to that Warcraft Stories twitter thing, I have 434. Haven’t logged in to confirm if that’s the case.
Farming mounts is not for everyone. You have to be okay with hardly ever getting a mount to drop, and being pleasantly surprised when it does happen.
Run some dungeons/raids on a weekly rotation or do 'em in between at times you don’t really have much else to do. Bit of a chore, but at least the raids that have shortcuts hardly take any time at all to do once you’ve got those unlocked.
Rep mounts are a lot easier to get though, also bit of a grind but at least they’re guaranteed mounts. Plus if you use a human (bonus rep) or do the grindy bits while timewalking bonus rep is up, it generally doesn’t have to take that long.

Somewhere north of 400 but idk exactly how many. There’s probably lots of really easy ones I could have if I really wanted. Reputation, etc.
- Working on getting some others because I wanna get the otter.
Apparently 425, not sure how accurate that is since it jumps around based on what character I’m on.
285 so 15 usables away from getting Lord of the reigns.
You’ll get a direct answer based on the achievement. Not your mount pane. And the only time the achievement wavers is if your class has access to class specific mounts.
In other words, being on a paladin, your mount count has the highest probability in the game thanks to Legion class mounts bumping you up with 5 of them (the original + four recolors all usable on any spec). But if you log on another character, you’ll have 4-5 less.
Using dataforazeroth, I have 675 mounts. When it comes to mount collecting, it really just depends what you want. If the goal is just to get as many mounts as possible, there are a ton of mounts that can just be bought from vendors throughout the game (many require rep farm though) and many others that are fairly easily acquired (for example, as drops, crafted, from achievements, etc). If you are more interested in collecting specific, rare-drop mounts, the best bet is using alts to give yourself as many chances as possible per week. I find simplearmory.com useful for tracking my collected mounts and helping me see which ones I want to work on collecting.
As someone with almost 700 mounts, and is top10 for Toys, top10 for Pets, top10 for Achvs, top10 for xmog (in my cluster) I can assure you:
^^^ that suggestion is the new truth of WoW.
If you’re a collector, having an alt-army is the ONLY way to accomplish things.
Side note: Being a collector has one nice bonus-- getting to Bosses that drop things means you’re inadvertently doing a raw-gold farm. And since things almost never drop, you have to do it again. I’d venture to say most collectors are VERY well-off in terms of gold.
Not enough. I think I’m in the upper 200s for the 500 achievement. I haven’t gotten any mounts in SL except for Old Blanchy, so maybe I’ll farm some when I’m 70 in DF. I hear SL has a lot of 'em.
Check your Covn Quartermasters. All 4 of them.
Once you get Exalted, EACH Covn has 1-3 mounts you can just BUY with anima. As long as you’re even mildly doing things in the game, it’s not hard to get to Exalted. They’re basically free mounts.
I’ll check it out at some point, thanks. I only went into SL when it was gifted, so I’m way behind. I’ve only done Bastion and part of the second zone (minus going to get Blanchy). I’m not planning on going back until after DF, but will go mount hunting some day!
I think somewhere around 60. I really have not looked lately.
I have 4 or 5 that I use on a regular basis. I have them key bound to Function keys. Sometimes I change them out.
I do not collect them.
5 years of playing and 201 mounts, I think is what I have.
I’ve been playing since 2006 and according to my profile I have 287 mounts. I’m not a mount collector but I have a few that I use all the time for their functionality, or sentimental reasons.
96 mounts…via various resources
496 mounts with 461 rideable by this character.
368, not enough and still mainly ride the Headless Horseman’s Mount that I got back the first Holiday it was available and made my son the Dwarf CRY!
Cry Blunstrome! CRY!
