Classic wow
You should ask this in the classic wow forum for a good answer.
- Eric Cartman: There’s lots of computer-generated boars in Warcraft that die with just one blow…
- Kyle: [trying to convince Cartman to give it up] Dude! Boars are only worth two experience points a piece. Do you know how many we would have to kill to get up 30 levels?
- Eric Cartman: [pulls out a piece of paper] Yes. 65,340,285, which should take us 7 weeks, 5 days, 13 hours and 20 minutes, giving ourselves 3 hours a night to sleep. What do you say, guys? You can jus… you can just hang outside in the sun all day tossing a ball around. Or you can sit at your computer and do something that matters…
Well I was under the impression you could stay in Elwynn forest killing boars for 2 XP each.
I believe you would need to kill 65,342,285 and it would take you 7 weeks, 5 days, 13 hours and 20 minutes.
Good luck.
Didn’t a gnome frost mage do it in a day just using Blizzard, can’t be that much.
The most boring way to level up but you do you
I think leveling through exploration has got it beat but still pretty boring.
That damned show is why I’m here!
/shakes fist
Oooo. Could be an interesting challenge.
loses sanity
nevermind.
More time than exclusively picking flowers to 60.
Fun fact: herbalism doesn’t give exp in classic.
ah it does in cataclysm.
Idk a lot
In mop I leveled a druid 10-60 via AB and it took like 550 games which was honestly like 10x more engaging than playing hardcore these days
Lots of people did that style back in original vanilla… funny thing is though…now Blizzard is starting to ban people for doing it. I did so with just one of my toons back in the day. Well it was more than one. I multiboxed a group of 4 shamans and did only killing and no quests or anything else. It went smooth and easy. And many old style players who did similar stuff to that too. Some did MB for it, some solo leveled, some did it by mob tagging.
And once on a hunter I made I did that.
And my pally I leveled 100% by doing PvP. Back in original WoTLK. That toon was on a different account than this one though.
You could pick only hunting quests and bounce around the game filling in the gaps with just grinding. Then you get a little extra XP after killing so many of a certain thing. But you just add the quests to the grind.
Try to target mobs that are just at of slightly above your level for faster leveling.
Noticing a pattern in that chart.
First level requires 8 mobs. Each subsequent level requires 8 more than the previous level. It’s not 100% consistent (and stretches out a bit around halfway)… but that’s a surprisingly simple sum formula.
K = (n^2 + n)/2 * c
“K” is the sum number of kills.
“n” is the number of levels
“c” is the constant, which is 8… at least up to level 28. But we’ll use it anyhow.
For 59 level ups, it works out to… 14,160 kills.
Still quite a bit short, thanks to the increase of number of required mobs per level creeping up to 13 more kills by the end. To overshoot that, adding another “pyramid step sum” (the formula from before) with 5 more kills per level for 32 level ups is an extra 2,640 kills. In theory, that should be 8 extra kills per level for 1-28 and 13 extra kills per level for 28-60.
Total comes to… 16,800 kills.
Actually adding up the chart gave me… 16,339 kills.
Not a bad estimate, I think.
Thank you for the excuse for some drive-by math calculations.
Probably a lot. That’s all I know though since I don’t play classic.
Hope that helps.
Yeah, I figured it would be lower, but then I factored in potential for no rested XP if you just kept killin without logging out. Also, was not my chart, but thankfully there are some nerds out there who love this stuff.
