I’m curious how much time people put in and how much time people think is a reasonable baseline expectation for a “normal” amount of time to spend on wow (I.e. an amount of time that allows you to “keep up”, whatever that means to you)?
I don’t know how much time I put in, personally. Not enough to do every dungeon every week and complete all the weeklies. About 10 hours per week feels about right to me for what I feel confident I can fit in for one hobby. I might average more than that, but there are definitely weeks where it’s tough to meet that. In 10 hours a week I can come close to keeping up, but not quite.

Wow isn’t a 1 hour at day game…
not even a 3 hours per day game…
and it isn’t because you have many things to do, it’s because all the thing you’ll miss if you decide to skip.

Not sure. In order to keep from getting burned out (and because it’s fun!) I come here to the forums to see how everyone else is doing…I need a life.
At this point if I play an hour it seems like it’s 59:59sec too many

For Shadowlands I’ve played just around 10 hours play time to date since launch
I’m so casual, I haven’t even done a single heroic dungeon yet

I’m on my seasonal layoff till Jan 2nd so during this time it’s been about 5-8 hours. But when working, it’s usually about an hour to two per day. Depending if the hotel I stay at for that day has decent WiFi. Working on the railroad I travel like crazy and usually I never have the time to do much any more besides sleep.
It depends. I often multitask. I might do a few things while waiting for queues or taking long trips across the flight paths. I also log in for 10 or 20 mins to make some bags on Alts, or just to check my Auctions or Missions, while I am doing other things.
I can be logged in for 4 hours at a clip, but how much am I playing? Idk. I am AFKd at my Garrison half that time.
5-6 days played at 60 on my main, leveled 2 alts to 60, leveling third now
i raid 9 hours in retail, i raid 14 hours in classic, and I casually keep up for about maybe 20 hours/week between all the toons. so in total about 43 hours/week.
time you play should always be equal or greater than time you work - you’re not a farm animal.

I play every day because I’m always home with not much better to do. I sometimes play for 3 hours straight before I need a break. But I also often do all nighters, where I’m not bothered by anything. Then I’ll play like 8 hours straight. This happens often. I have 3 level 60s and three other characters that started SL. But my highest ilevel is only 173.

Well that’s true if you don’t have a family, friends or any other responsibilities or hobbies at all. (though maybe you didn’t necessarily mean play wow specifically when you said play).
I play 2 hours a day every day. I am a filthy casual with other hobbies and job
I play about 10 - 30 min a day usually. On long days I may play 1 - 2 hours. Its why it took so long to get my character through the main story, I’d been playing since launch and I just finished Revendreth like 3 days ago.
depends on the day/week etc if i’m really into another game I’ll play for an hour or 2 to get the daily stuff done then switch, if not i’ll play 5 hour or so.
