What kinda strategies are you planning for Classic? What kinda group composition and profession choices are your groups planning?
So far, I have 9 buddies who plan to play as…
1 Warrior Tank (Me)
2 Warlocks
2 Priests
2 Shamans
1 Rogue
1 Hunter
1 Mage
With some concerns for Classic aside, I think I’m most excited for the comradery among this group. Yeah, some may not play as often as others, but it’s still fun to help get that red-text quest done, or passing on an awesome green item for your buddy. I find that aspect excited!

For me, personally? At least one. Maybe two.
What kinda strategy do you and your friends have?? Do tell!
We’re rerolling our retail characters on Classic and rebooting their adventures in the better game… provided we don’t annually lose our progress like some people are for some reason hoping for.
Annually losing progress? What idiots are asking for THAT?
And to answer the question, no idea about the friends who are playing at launch (though I know there is at least one person I know on my server(s) who plans to play), but I’m thinking of recreating the past a bit myself - only one of my current retail characters more or less exists in his original form (my very first, the orc warlock), but I’m probably going to remake him and my old human paladin for Classic. How much I play them is another story; I’m hoping those of us from my server(s) who plan to play classic band together or something, but I’m not that optimistic…
Check out the progressive server thread.
None, but if history holds several may join after talking shop and memories about WoW…but will bring their friends too. And that is not a net positive. Aw well.

None at launch, none of my current friends are gonna play, but I’m sure I’ll make new friends as I play.
Zero.
I’m 41 and married, and I have no friends anymore.

We have 11 interested so far, but only a couple have decided on class.
2 are currently playing retail, so that’s 9+ new subs for Blizz.

I have about 6-8 RL friends going to be playing. Most of them are going to be casual but me and one friend are taking a week off work at launch to ensure we can log on the second the servers are live.
We plan on leveling as fast as possible but still having fun with it. Right now we are prepping our strat. I am rolling Troll Hunter and he will be Orc Warrior. We have leveled 1-10 multiple times now to get a feel for where the quests are and how to do them quickly.
My ultimate goal is to get max level quickly enough that I do not have much competition when farming devilsaur leather so I can try and be one of the first people selling it + the items you make out of it. Making money has always been my weakest point in WoW so I want to try and capitalize on the fresh server.

It’s SO HARD to convince my friends to play classic. Most of my guild is giving me a very adamant HECK NO and the few that do want to play will do so very casually when there’s nothing else to do.
In fact, I only have one guaranteed yes, and he’s only going to play with me because we’re BFFs, not because he actually wants to.

Random Encounter <PvE> <Alliance> Recruiting - #54 by anon98832062 Just saying, we’re not forming raids teams yet and will be on a RP server, (not for everyone i know) but if you’re looking for other experienced Vanilla gamers who are super psyched about Classic give us a shout!

None, the few friends I had that did play WoW during Cata and Warlords are playing BDO and FF14 now… And my sister who played during Classic and TBC doesn’t play MMO’s at all anymore, just single player RPG’s like Kingdom Hearts 3 right now.
I am the only one who is going to play Classic and because of that I’ll probably switch to Horde if I’m going to start with a fresh slate anyway.
I know a few for whom I’ve hyped up classic enough to play between retail wow and tf2 people I know, but I don’t think any them will be guildies in Classic since I don’t imagine more than one would even be interested in raiding, and that one just quit raiding on retail via burnout.
Of my old IRL friends who I initially roped into playing vanilla, most have expressed some interest in TRYING the game again (and they’ve each played the expansions) , but all of them have kids and have more or less quit each expansion within a month of super casual level play after seeing the story and leveling up once. They just don’t have the time to really dedicate to even retail wow, let alone a significantly more time intensive vanilla /classic.
Truth be told, I can’t really blame them either, the only reason I get to play as much as I do is because my girl and I have been holding off on kids ourselves… If and when that happens, I’d imagine my available game time will almost assuredly take a similar hit, and being completely honest, I’m not sure I’d even want to play vanilla if I wasn’t able to dedicate enough time to it to get myself decently geared. I play primarily to pvp, and being a green /blued out scrub in vanilla era pvp sounds terrible.
