Both, a dvd drive and a blu Ray drive that also reads in DVD format
Do you have the DVD drive set up for a specific region or something? why have two
Idk just had them laying around and decided to plug them in
At one point many years ago I had two optical drives in my desktop PC. When I needed to re-rip my entire CD collection (600+) it sped things up considerably to have two going at once.
Since I have everything in Apple Lossless now I doubt Iāll ever need to do that again, but if I did Iād want to have at least two drives going at once (maybe even 3 assuming the system could keep up with ripping & encoding 3 CDs simultaneously).
I have external USB 3.0 Bluray writer drive for discs I rarely use. I also have USB 3.0 HDD dock for backups.
Re: optical drives, I have an internal BD-RW drive in an external USB 3.1 enclosure that stays in the closet most of the time but occasionally getting pulled out for ripping the odd CD that canāt be found on streaming services. The model of the drive was chosen for its extremely accurate ripping capabilities (might seem counterintuitive since audio CDs are digital, but a lot of drives introduce minor errors in ripped tracks).
One 500GB Samsung M.2 SSD, one 1TB Samsung SATA SSD, and one 256GB Samsung SATA SSD to store backups and tertiary files. I am able to fit one more M.2 SSD onto my motherboard but Iām missing one of the post screws to mount it.
I got a 256gb NVMe in m.2-2280 slot and a 1050gb SATA SSD, set that config up in 2017 and been workinā fine for a long time. Havenāt had an optical drive since like 2005.
