MM Hunter gets a rework, initial state is pretty iffy and receives a lot of feedback, but the only “meaningful” change is that they got the pet back for open world and delves, nothing else.
Shaman gets constant changes through 11.0, .5 and now 11.1.
So, how many of you at Blizzard are playing Shaman this expansion?
Shaman is getting development now because it was the very last class to even be touched during beta. They got no development in alpha aside from 1 hero talent tree. Enhance wasn’t even touched in beta which is the spec getting the dev time now.
“Why are shamans getting so much attention!? WAH WAH WAH!”
Ele got basically nothing implemented until the very tail end of Beta such that there was no time to reasonably iterate on it.
And it resulted in gameplay that was 90% spam lightning bolt even to the point of actively ignoring procs because it was more worth the global to spam another lightning bolt.
Which is why it got more attention for 11.0.5 - a full rework in the middle of a season.
I’m all for Shaman receiving the love it’s getting as I main Resto, it’s just sad to see other specs that I also enjoy get “Reworks” that are left half baked and feedback ignored.
Is it blatant favouritism? Or does the Hunter Dev think they know better?
They got that work during beta. Shaman are always the last class that blizzard works on. This means 0 iteration during beta and half baked jobs after the game releases. Don’t mistake this for favoritism because it’s the opposite.
Ion stopped playing that character in Season 2 SLs. His guild is now headed by a paladin who doesn’t mog. So there’s a chance Ion is now playing paladin.
MM was half baked at launch, and after another full rework it’s still half baked.
Is it the quick release cycle that’s pushing these out half baked? Or did the Hunter Dev simply give up half way through and muted the Hunter feedback thread?
Based on this info Id say none. If they are constantly changing them it sounds like they just cant manage to get them right. Constantly getting changes isnt getting love dude. Quite the opposite. Its the Devs saying we cant seem to get this class right.
Atleast they’re trying to get it right constantly. Better than nothing at all (like Brewmaster), or changed to a bad state and left alone for far too long.
Seems to be going well for Shaman so far.
A good example of constant changes is also MW Monk, which seems to have a Dev that’s actively listening to feedback and improving the talent tree.
