How many copies has DF sold?

It’s pretty obvious that the pressure of the lawsuits shook their leadership up, it will probably only get more extreme.

Blame the lawsuits, blame afrasiabi, but don’t blame the focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The talent that made wow good is gone. Now its shoehorning in whatever california wants.

Why not?

Those focuses aren’t shared by most people interested in a quality game.

I am a person looking for an awesome game, not a social movement.

One of the original developers is a Taiwanese-American that most people focused on “diversity, equity and inclusion” don’t like.

Sadly with modern blizz, all you will be getting is a social movement.

This “argument” is hilarious.

I have a friend… A lot of regular people… (emphasis mine)

GREAT sources guy. Awesome debate skills. :+1:

Opinions are not sourced and not a “debate”.

i bet it was at least 9000 copies sold.

You’re trying to argue that Dragonflight hasn’t sold well because it’s too focused on “social issues” and is too “feminine.” Arguing is debating. You used opinions to back your argument, which shows horrible debating skills.

You can try to say you’re just expressing your opinion, but you’re still arguing.

I don’t think feminine is the right word, but I take their point and think it’s a real problem. It’s just what happened with MoP and the way it was perceived from the trailer alone. I watched the DF trailer with a group of friends, and I think the whole room cringed a little. I was still stoked as a huge WoW fan, mostly because I knew the new features coming with it and was excited. But I think people feel like the new direction is too Disney-fied rather than feminine. From the trailer, you get the sense this is going to be a child friendly romp with androgynous characters through a faerie magic land.

In game, it does go darker than I was expecting. But the optics are very, “My Little Pony” from the marketing.

Yes, this. Blizzard has proven time and time again they are out of touch with their player base, especially evolving player(s). Why would anyone immediately trust that again? (Using words said to me when I tried to convince a few friends to come back)

Only reason DF did not sell is cuz SL left a bad taste is peoples mouths

This.

Blizzard has a lot of work to do to make up for WoD through Shadowlands. Even Legion is overrated because of the crap before and after it. Players have endured years of mediocre to abysmal game design.

They did some things right in DF, truly. But not enough. It’s like they paid the water bill and one credit card minimum but have ten years of delinquent accounts: Not enough to change people’s opinions of Blizzard.

i agree. i didn’t get a beta invite for the first time since cata, so i waited with high expectations for the prepatch to try out thenew class… and i was extremely disappointed- so much so, i’m back to maining my monk for guild raids since even with the new class, we’re still short on healers.

Look, DF is a good expansion (so far).

But as I said in a post I made, DF utterly and completely ignores WoW CORE demographic.

For example: imagine you do a bunch of studies and analyze your internal data and figure out your core demo LOVES the color Blue.

You then release a great… I mean objectively AWESOME game… where everything is green, red, yellow … any and everything but blue.

While this isn’t a great analogy, hopefully you’re understanding the point that you just can’t ignore some fundamental things about your demo.

The WoW demo is an ADULT. With a career, and a family, and OTHER THINGS TO DO. Responsibilities to take care of.

And DF is … an OVERWHELMING time sink. If you’re not prepared to sink, literally, orders of magnitude more time into this game, then you better be prepared to buying a Token per week to keep yourself up to speed. Protip: your demo doesn’t want to do that, either.

All the time sink stuff could be tweaked. And really needs to be. DF is solid so far. There is a lot to like about it.

But if you don’t have the time, you just can’t get in to it.

if they didnt brag about it its probably shameful.

thats how numbers work these days lol

I personally think WoW is fighting a losing battle trying to appeal to people like you.

You should go play games with lots of killing and blood and mayhem. Guy stuff, right? With exaggerated cartoon bosoms and behinds to ogle. If there’s any story it should center on daddy issues. No girly crap.

Blizzard should give up on players like you. Most of you are toxic, you don’t enjoy traditional RPG elements, and you can’t stand any content that doesn’t focus on a manly man or sexy, objectified babe as the main protagonist. Zero imaginative ability.

Games like Stardew Valley, Pokémon, Minecraft, and Animal Crossing have far more diverse player bases and more positive players as well. WoW doesn’t need to be those games, but they could learn from them.

I’m old so I played “Baldur’s Gate” and related games. Those games had adventure and fighting, but they didn’t go out of their way to attract insecure boys who want to play soldier. Blizzard would be better off reimagining the RPG part of the game in the future and just stop trying to appeal to the guys who really should just go play Diablo or Fortnite or whatever FPS appeals.

tbf the game was a lot more popular before - back when it didnt give a damn about that stuff  almost like appealing to people like him worked pretty well!

hard to tell. the decline might just be due to old age. who knows.

My 1st PC RPG was Dungeon Hack, the text version. I did play some arcade game with some RPG elements. There were a lot of (EDIT: SSI) D&D games that were fun, more tactical and had a miniatures feel. If they support a diversity of play options they can keep people of varying personalities so they’re not chasing any particular demographic.

Man, this is the first I have heard this opinion. I probably just didn’t think of it, mostly because it starts with rock dudes falling apart and one doing a Thor maneuver just to get stuff working again.

Really, to me the only “Disneyfied” characters are Wrathion and Chromie but with her… I mean, weren’t people used to that by now? People have tut tutted her in the past but it seems the “CHROMIE IS STUPID AND NOT WOW-Y ENOUGH” screamers have gotten much louder.

I’ve played this game more or less since Classic and it’s always had a cartoonish feel to it, at least to me.
