How Many Came From EverQuest?

I did! My very first character was a Dwarf Warrior, but I didn’t really catch my full stride until I made my human Enchanter (fun class if I do say so myself)

Dedaru here was the name of my mom’s Half-Elf Bard, I picked the name as a tribute to my mom (love ya mom!) since both my folks got me into EQ1; we even beta tested it!

Left EQ basically when WoW came out. Was playing EQ less and less at the time anyhow and more and more WC3, so it was a natural switch.

Not too long ago though I decided to poke in on EQ again. Started up a human magician on Firiona Vie and went exploring some old zones. Was kinda shocked at how some of them ended up too.

Oh Freeport, what have they done to my boy?!

Nevertheless I played around a bit, earned my first ever epic 1.0. I consider it an achievement as I had never earned one back in the day lol. Even played around a bit with the housing system, and was surprised at how much I got sucked into it.

It’s still a game I log onto every so often, though I don’t foresee myself doing much in the way of more modern content. I just like taking my mercenary and OP epic pet to some older zones and blowing 'em up.

I really miss that big leveling dong gong sound. I dont know if anyone else loved hearing that leveling “ding” but it gave me almost a b0ner. hahah

I never played an MMO before stepping into vanilla WoW. I was into shooters and strategy games. I would play anything that could replicate that formula in a modern setting.

This is why Crendor is the only WoW personality I follow. Way more relatable.

Even though I played UO a little, EQ was my first big MMO that I got into. My whole guild moved over to WoW, but we all split up because of regional servers.

I got started with Ragnarok Online back in 2003. I still miss Prontera bros :sob:

You had to learn to ‘break’ camps for regular play. I played an enchanter and I loved my sword and shield! Mez’ing mobs and finally getting into a good rotation of respawns was super satisfying. I liked too, that any ninja player was reported on the forums and blacklisted to the point they’d have to move servers. Intimate/anonymous community!

Zaarel was born in the realms of EQ on Tholuxe Paelles server. It will always be my most beloved experience for MMORPG. I can’t even remember why I ended up in the realms of WOW.

WOW you bring back memories. It was the very first MMO I played and I played a Erudite Shadowknight on Tallon Zek server I think it was called (a PVP server).

I remember exploring the lands of Norrath and thought the Wood Elves homeland was coolest thing to see at that time. I enjoyed it when I played it.

Good times.

I played it very briefly in 1999 before Diablo 2 and Phantasy Star Online came out the year after.

I then switched to Dark Age of Camelot to PVP with my cousins but played Final Fantasy 11 (I continued playing this alongside WoW until around 2008) more overall.

I tried Star Wars Galaxies for a few months in Summer/Fall 2003 before switching back to FF11.

My very first character was a Woodelf. The starting area blew my mind. Thanks to no map or compass, I lost my corpse at level 3 and decided to re-roll a human in Qeynos.
