Hi Friends
Dev Evoker here - have been exploring Augmentation recently.
I’m curious to know how many dps should we have in our raid before introducing a second Augmentation Evoker? Is it as simple as “when there’s 4 or more dps for each Aug to buff” or is there more to it?
We have a smaller raid group with usually around 15-ish players, which includes me running Devastation and another Evoker running Aug.
Last night while struggling on Heroic Broodtwister Ovi’nax I switched over to Aug just to see if there was any improvement in our performance.
Even though we only had 6 pure dps being bufffed by 2 Augs, anecdotally it felt smoother and reviewing the logs afterwards it showed our total raid dps immediately increased by around 7% when I switched from Dev to Aug.
On paper that sounds like a win, but the kicker is that I switched back to Dev for our last attempt (i.e. the successful kill) our total raid dps was about the same, so the sudden 7% improvement could have just been coincidence as everyone was getting more comfortable with the fight.
Is it better to wait until we have at least 8 non-Aug dps before introducing the 2nd Aug? Or even 10 non-Augs? Is there hard and fast rule or general recommendation to consider here?
Thank you
As long as your dps are strong, having two augs is fine in most comps. Probably not ideal in a 2/2/6 but for a 15-20 man raid 2 augs can be fine if they aren’t just yoloing their buffs and actually being strategic.
You don’t, however, want them buffing different dps. Aug buffs stack up to twice, so having them buffing the same dps is ideal.
Even though dev does more dps on that fight, Aug can make the add phases feel much smoother with well timed breaths.
Because you’re increasing the dps of your best add killers and also giving chrono ward to everyone with EM during the breaths (plus the vers from sands), you’re creating a safer environment at the same time. We just got to Broodtwister mythic and I’ll likely just run aug on that, but we’ll see how it goes.
In my very limited experience, aug doesn’t buff the raid enough to make up for the loss of personal dps.
Its interesting for a burn\add phase, but the overall always seems to be a loss or break even at best.
? But they are the most used class in M+ if they are not worth it in a raid I can’t see any way they could possible be valuable in M+. So are you sure you’re correct on that?
They’re not correct.
They’re also not there for giga dam in raid, that’s not the entire picture.

Liquid in RWF had 3 devokers and 2 heal evokers, 0 aug. They should know why they chose that setup.
Heroic raiding and RWF raiding are not comparable in terms of comps.
Two augs is just fine for where they are.
