So I know a good majority of us are in our 30s / 40s now. How many more xpacs will you keep playing? Have you ever thought about it?
Every new expansion for a few months till the very end
Until my âold man reflexesâ bury me in the ground as a 1400 has-been.
Waiting for Ashes of Creation to start beta within 2 years and my WoW career will be finished. And not only will it end my career in WoW, it will also put an end to me playing any other shallow themepark games masquerading as MMORPGs.
That much faith in it huh? Lol
I am actually thinking about quitting the game completely. The latest patch notes have shown me, that they have no real goal of where they want the balance to go.
Overnerfing rot classes, not realizing that itâs also affecting ST damage. Overnerfing defense, while others get insane defense back. Buffing one shots, just to nerf them 1 week later and so on.
Or how about the nerfs to dmg from PvP trinket, because they think the pace is too fast, but also nerf the defense of basically all dps, instead of Arms warrior?
The devs really have no sense for balancing it seems, or donât take into consideration that every single change have an impact. When DF released, I think it was really fun. Changes were needed, but mostly they should have just buffed some classes to a healthy state, instead of nerfing everybody else.
When people say, they want to be able to react, it definitely means, that oneshots shouldnât be a thing, but it also means, that you want to be able to do something. So nerfing buttons to be useless is not the goal.
I really have no interest anymore in playing a game, where they remove the fun after 4 weeks of the expansion over and over again. Is it really that hard to achieve something that might deserve the name of balance? Where every class feels strong instead of just some classes being op and all the rest has to follow their lead? Do we really need to make Warrior and Rogue dominating the game in the end?
Enough from my side! It looked promising, but 6 weeks were enough to destroy everything again! I can see the bad pattern and donât think it is going to change any time soon.
My expectation is that when I get old, and my children have decided to funnel me into a joyless nursing home to await a cold and lonely death, Iâd much rather be playing WoW than bingo.
Imagine the guilds of crusty old men and women, ganking quest spots and bullying people in PVP premade BGs, all while being stereotypically old. Iâm not looking forward to being super old, but thinking about that does make me smile
Until something better is available
Off topic, but why does America neglect their elders so readily
Which one is ashes of creation
31 hereâŚ
Probably forever until the servers go down. Ive quit every expansion since wod but i always dip my toes in.
Itâs not just america, but I would guess, often when/where it occursâŚselfishness?
UghâŚthe big questionâŚ
When I started playing pvp was all I wanted. It seemed like it would be fun. Some expansions I would do rbg and others arena. I actually stopped doing it as much when hellfire came out in wod because that raid was awesome and I wanted to try it. So got the heroic raid virus in my blood.
Legion came out and I finally got my dream spec I wanted for years and everyone said we would never get. Raided a bit there but as a pug it was too much of a headache and too much anxiety. I would only really play casual epics (which need to be rated and more like classic ashran where you can go play for hours and have fun) . But life kept me from hitting arenas much.
Now this xpac my daughter wanted the sabertoothâŚand was willing to do arena with me. And my god something never change! I still cuss and sweat about a MM coming out of stealth with a shot that takes 80 percent of my hp and think why did I do this for so long! This sucks! But gonna keep going to help her get her mount and then back to casual epics.
If they had more epics and the rewards were betterâŚI would prolly never step in an arena againâŚ
I am in my 40s and itâs just too much to keep up with anymore. But a casual slug fest would be a nice addition
Will I ever fully stopâŚfor the last two expansion I took about a year off of each because there wasnât anything fun and rewarding to do in the casual pvp space.
So I guess itâs up to blizz to decide how long I keep going
As long as the game exists most likely. I am 40 now and have been playing for 18 years.
Thereâs no other game that offers PvP like WoW does. Sure you have GW2 and stuff like that, but when it comes to the feel of the game, there is no other MMO that has the immediate response feeling of WoW
So until someone does it better, Iâll keep playing it.
PS: Some of the best pvp MMOs like Warhammer and DAOC (long dead games) still didnât have the response time feeling of WoW. They may have been âbetterâ pvp games. But wow PvP just FEELS good to play.
Mainly depends on the game design they go with in terms of player power in chores.
I started WoW as a 12 year old kid in Vanilla and played all the way up until I left for college at the start of WoD. Had zero intentions of coming back until covid hit, then I purchased Shadowlands to help bide time. Ended up quitting towards the end of SL after Season 3 ended because I personally felt it was way too short and I was frustrated that all the time I spent gearing, getting tier sets, conduits, gear ranks, etc. was reset for no reason other than to keep the hamster wheel going.
Came back for DF because the âsystemsâ are at a bare minimum and itâs very easy to just log in and play, which I love.
If they stray back towards the âchoreâ mentality, Iâll probably peace out again.
Lol, doubt it
A lot of us are taught to be 100% independent, and that feeds into abandoning the old.
But we arenât that bad tbh. Iâve seen some bad stuff (I work in healthcare), but go look up what South Korea does to old people if you want to see real cruelty.
Theyâre abandoned and live on the streets. 50% of them (maybe not 50% all on streets but they live in deep poverty and alone).
âgit gudâ

Hmm? I am currently within the r1 reach of my spec in Solo Shuffle. I think thatâs fine enough.
But when a game isnât fun, it isnât fun. Their balancing always results in unfun in my opinion and they also always favorite the same 4-5 specs, while the rest are actually filler specs.
If you think differently, thatâs fine. Keep playing and feel great with your rival. If you are lucky enough, the inflation will even carry you to duelist.
WoW Open world pvp is fun. Casual pvP is fun
I only do Arenas cause Blizz makes me. Itâs not fun, I donât look forward to it.
Capping conquest is only 1/3 of gearing this expansion.
Solo shuffle is basically casual arena. Just keep playing it till you get to a rating you can consistently get conquest at.
