Ok I have 7 days played on old Rocks here and got my epic mount last Thursday and started pvping. Today I checked and I went from rank 2 to Rank 4 plus it says I was rank 84. I don’t know what that means.
One of my goals is to replicate my feat of getting rank 10 on my pally in Vanilla. Here is the catch though. My pally was on an Aussie server and I was part of what I guess you could call a premade clique. I’m not sure that even exists in Classic now and I’m assuming it was easier to rank up because the servers were smaller and my win percentage higher.
I know I can solo and repeat last week’s results but am not sure that’s good enough for rank 10. If you think so please estimate how long it will take and if it’s wishful thinking on my part I would appreciate being told now before I go any further. Thanks!
I solo queued to rank 10 over the summer. It was about 1 rank a week for me. I dont have any addons for ranking info or any of that so I cant tell you what bracket or whatever. But it was probably 2h a night, 4 on weekends.

Thanks for the reply! I was kind of thinking one rank a week with maybe and extra week or two thrown in for ranks 9 and 10. They have add ons for everything these days I will have to look into that.
What rank are you right now? Rank 4 84%?
I agree with what has been said. When I was ranking I typically got 1 rank each week but 9-10 took two weeks with the pace I went. The first time I ranked it was at the start and pretty brutal all around. The second time I got to 10/11 very casually.
Things have changed a bit as bloating is not happening on many servers and people are not PVP ranking as much. The numbers you will need will really depend on your ranking placement and how many on your server are still actually ranking.
Honorspy is a good addon to help you know where you stand along with this website once you know what bracket you will be in Ranker (jakeswork.github.io)

I’m not at home right now but what I remember is that I’m rank 4 and the bar was about 25% full. It also said for last week I was rank 84 but I don’t know what that means.
I remember ranking in Vanilla and trying to get to Rank 11 for the mount was when I couldn’t keep up. At that time though I had three little ones (who are grown up now) and a lot more responsibilities. I can definitely invest more time in ranking now but I didn’t know how the meta has changed. All weekend long I only ran into one premade team and that was a Pagle group running AN. Maybe they stick to WSG more now?
Thanks for the tips Moo I will check that out when I get home.
Your standing of 84 means there were 83 players who earned more honor than you on your server. This may be enough honor to keep going for a while but it depends on the number of active pvpers on your server. You should google the classic PvP system and do some reading

I read the article on it on wowhead and it wasn’t really clear. Thanks for the info and if you have better alternatives I will read those too.
I see you met the Pagle Bagels. I bet they were spamming something along the lines of “e ad s o m e b ag l e”
There are also some websites you can use to plan out your grind. I will link a few for you.
https://jakeswork.github.io/ranker/
This one is useful for planning out how long it will take you to reach your desired rank. Will give you a good measure of what brackets you need to hit.
https://www.vanillawar.com/tools/honor/?rank=5.92&standing=63&players=8100&gains=
We use this to calculate our pool sizes and determine how many spots are in each bracket. This is where your Standing comes in. It will let you know very specifically which bracket you made, and how much RP you got.
The link goes to my calculation I made yesterday. I went from 5.92 to 7.35, and I calculated the pool size was about 8100 based on this. My standing of 63 put me at the bottom of Bracket 13, earning 11070 RP.
Essentially, you gain rank based on your standing. The pool of active pvpers is split into 14 brackets, with the top bracket having 1 spot per 330 players. Each lower bracket has more & more spots. The higher bracket you reach, the more rank you gain.
There is also a sliding scale for rank gain within each bracket between the floor and the top. Get the honorspy add-on, it will help illustrate this for you. You will have to be at the very least hitting bracket 10 floor to reach rank 10 at the end of your grind. However you would ideally want to be in a higher bracket to get there faster.
Ask around your server and see if there is anyone left organizing the brackets or running a PvP discord. That’s the best way to get info specific to your server.
Thanks man I bookmarked both those sites. The Pagle guys were spamming something but I don’t really pay attention to that nonsense anymore. I had over 250k HKs on my Shaman alone my first go around so beating people is not really something to get excited about imo. Except when a rogue tries to jump you and you own him. Spanking those losers always brings a smile to my face.
You’re on a decent size server so that’s good, but it all depends on how active your pvp community is at this point after Naxx. 84 standing could be good if your server is still pool boosting its size into the thousands, or it could be bad if there’s only a few hundred people pvping at this time. I was getting 2 ranks per week just a couple months ago because of the massive pool sizes but that ended with Naxx, if you can manage 1 rank per week at this point past rank 6 that would be impressive.

Fastest is 5 weeks if your server still has a top bracket and you earn it every week, which means you are number 1 on your server or very close to it and there are extra spots in the top bracket to fit you in. Very casually probably 11-12 weeks as around rank 9 is where it starts getting harder to get a rank each week due to honor decay.
That is really helpful Salty thank you. I knew players traded off rank 14 to take turns getting the weapon but I didn’t realize there was a trickle down all the way to Rank 10. This week I will focus on getting exalted with Frostwolves and keep an eye on honor spy to see what I can do potentially.
