How long is your name reserved after deleting it?

So we all have our drakthyr names reserved. How long does it get saved after deleting a character. Do I have time to customize before someone ninjas the name or do I have to speed run and then change at the barbershop?

I thought it’s attached to your account for 24hrs although I may be wrong or it’s changed.

I know it gets locked to your account for 30 days but I think you need to reach a certain level.

I mean, the barber is free now. Might as well get the name, then screw around with appearance in game.

I level my reserved name toons up to 30 to avoid the issue of potential name snipes.

For clarification, the name is reserved to your account for 30 days so long as the original character holding the name was level 30+.

Usually immediately if it’s from your account to your account. Someone else being able to use the name I think is 30 days? I could be way off.

I usually wait a few weeks before making new class toon with a saved name I saved before they come out.

This is correct. If the name is on a lv1 placeholder alt, the name will be immediately available unless something has changed since Legion. In Legion, I “gave” a name I had reserved on a placeholder alt to a friend of mine who wanted it. I waited for him to finish his character before deleting the alt holding the name and he was immediately able to use it. (We were coordinating in Disc voice.)

(Someone else one time told me it’s locked for five minutes when the name was on a lv1 alt, but this was NOT my experience. At least in Legion.)

Right, so speed run it is then. Thanks!

I would advise moving as fast as possible, yes. One thing I might suggest is take your time in the character creator, then write down what you chose so you can put it all back in as fast as possible after deleting the alt. (Since you will have to delete the alt, THEN create the new character.)

Good luck to everyone with their saved names!!! I know the value of a perfect name!!!

 :tada:

You can fully customize your dracthyr in the barbershop for free at any time. I just did a random appearance and I’ll do it later.

And all the people rolling Dracthyr will be named Falkor…cuz everyone is so original.

See, I kept my reserve alt level 20, because I thought it was the opposite of this. Where if, you were TOO high, the name became locked to that character and if you tried to delete it and name something else with the name, it’d be like, “That name is unavailable.”

Now I feel like a sillyhat. :stuck_out_tongue:

You’re a genius! I was planning to recustomize in the barber shop but the lighting in there is so bad.

If the name was subject to a name change, faction change, or similar service THEN it is locked to your account. If the name is above 30 it is locked to your account.

If neither of the above conditions are met it is fair game.

Don’t worry, no one can take your cringy dragon name. There’s a buffer from deletion you get before it’s up for grabs again

I posted this in another thread. It’s what I do to save names. I started another account on the same license. You can have up to 8. I keep it as a starter and use it as a name bank. I open both games, create my character, delete the old one and use the name. Only takes a second to alt-tab between screens.

I deleted my character that was saving the name, and was able to use it immediately while creating my Dracthyr. Didn’t take me longer than 3-5mins.

I did this too  It’s a great idea!
