Now that all the exp buffs are mostly gone but we had the experience squish how long abouts should 1-60 be? Not the pro speed leveler or someone new to the game but just your average Joe or Jane going at a decent questing pace.
I did 1-60 during pre patch in about 11 hours (I know not amazing but it was fast for me) with the 87 percent exp buff or what ever it was so I’m guessing it will be close to 20 hours now give or take a few hours?
The main purpose of an MMORPG, and this game is exactly this, is to experience the journey of levelling. Methinks, if you bothered to read the entire quest, then you’d like it better since there’s a story that even tailored to different races, and specs.
I been reading the quests and playing this game since 2008. I understand where you are coming from but that wasn’t what I was asking. Thanks for your input though.
Quests have changed since then, so it’s a valid point. If you REALLY want leveling to go faster, then there’s the option of purchasing a boost, just saying.
The journey is amazing the first time, OK the second time, mildly annoying the third time, etc etc as you make more alts. I have over ten alts right now, I enjoy doing everything with my main but when I’m leveling my alts I just want it over asap.
That’s FFXIV and ESO, not WoW. All their content is endgame and they want you to rush to max level. Giant walls of text to tell you to kill 10 boars or collect 10 zebra hooves is not interactive fun questing in any form, just a chore.
The journey gets slightly tailored to the specific character’s race, and specialization. If you truly don’t like the journey, then this is the wrong genre for you, just saying.
Besides Legion class halls and like, the one pandaria quest that shows you your ancestors, there is like zero content tailored to your race or especially spec. Certainly not enough that the leveling experience would be even slightly different when doing it on an alt.
That sounds about right. though I usually take my time and make it closer to 15 hours played, Id say.
Im not usually trying to power level. I like the content I level in.
You said “. . . there’s like zero content tailored,” which is very misleading, and shouldn’t even be mentioned by someone with the higher status than others. You need to read the quest from top to bottom to notice, and is subtle.
Quest text gets changed from “Human” to “Night Elf”, or from “Death Knight” to “Paladin”, that’s hardly anything to get excited about. In Dragonflight Alexstraza even referred to me as having been a trusted friend over the years, even though in Legion I killed every living thing in the Ruby Sanctum during my class mount questline.
Like I said I do like it, the first time. My alts exist to give me some additional gameplay options in dungeons, not so that I can experience all the same questlines again for a 12th time.
