How long has Vol’dun been a desert?

Did Mythrax make it into a desert before his imprisonment, or after he was released?
I think it's implied that the Sethrak have been turning the place into a desert for awhile.

Its been long enough that being exiled to Vol'dun is considered a really bad thing among the Zandalari, so there's that.
It became a desert when he killed Sethraliss, and then he destroyed G'huun's first seal and was imprisoned right after.

I'm pretty sure that happened during the Aqir War, so 16,000 years. Which also means sethrak are extremely long-lived, since Korthek and Vorrik were the ones who imprisoned him.

Thank you. :)
Is there any info on what it was like before it became a desert? From the ruins it looks to be at least as developed as Zuldazar, if not moreso.

Its implied it was a jungle simillar to Zuldazar. Nazmir was as well until it partially sunk.

As for the why it turned that way its a bit vague, other than it didn't start until Sethraliss sacrificed herself to stop Mythrax, and the Devoted think her death started the desertification of Voldun. Though it wouldn't be that hard to assume climate change from the Sundering likely also played a role here, such as how the Sundering helped make the Barrens what it is today.

We do know as well that the Faithless picked up the power to use their Lightning Spires to terraform areas into desert, somewhere along the line.

Given that long lifespans are being handed out like candy these days, I think it might be more appropriate to say that Sethrak have normal lifespans and humans are mayflies.

And Zandalari are slightly longer lived mayflies. Everyone else native to Titans like Azeroth and Argus are insanely long lived!

Better way to put it honestly

It's possible that Vorrik, Korthek and Sulthris have all specifically lived as long as they have as an effect of binding their respective power into each of the keys to Mythrax's prison.

Their whole job since sealing away the C'thrax was to safeguard those keys, so it'd make sense if they arranged to be alive for as long as the keys would need protecting.

In the quest "The Warguard's Trail" Meerah says it was once "a jungle teeming with life." Akunda the Exalted concurs in "Sacred Remains," saying the area "was once a lush jungle, home to many great and powerful thunder lizards."

It's likely that the big three (Korthek, Vorrik and the other one) were blessed by Sethraliss with immortality, rather than the sethrak having baseline immortality
