Question in the title.
Probably an unpopular opinion, but I’m a little dubious myself as to how invested I’ll get into Classic. Maybe two or three months. I doubt I’ll play long after hitting 60, if I get that far.

I’m in it for at least the full 6 phases of content. I’d like to clear Naxx at some point.
After that, how much I continue playing depends a bit on what their plans for the future is. If they make TBC servers, I’d probably consider giving them a go.
Otherwise I’ll probably just make alts and play on them.
Either way I’m in it for the long haul for these old versions of WoW.

Another thing. Some of us have not played retail in such a long time that we are not burnt out from the mmo grind. We’ve been waiting for classic since it was announced.

I’m expecting to go pretty hardcore for the first 4 months at least, and then again for fresh phases. eventually i’ll taper down my gameplay to 8 hours a day.
Probably around 5 years, give or take a year.

In the long run I hope to have multiple characters raid geared and PvPing which will essentially give me unlimited content that I could play for years to come.
It’s impossible to say now how I’ll feel in a years time, or 2 or 3 years. Maybe some crazy new game will come out and that’ll drag me away but I’ll probably always come back.

it was partially sarcasm. I’ve done a lot of long term “stay here for 3 years or until the job is done” type jobs working 12+ hours a day. presently unemployed and grateful for the rest. but alas, men don’t do well with a lack of responsibility, so i’ll probably pick up something to carry me over until winter work (snowremoval) kicks in.

I never had a choice before as to when I have played my fill of WoW (vanilla). It just ended and moved onto the next phase. I could see playing for quite awhile. Until the fun wears off I guess for me.

I’ve been on the same TBC server for 5 years so fully expect to be in it for the long haul.
I predict a lot of people leave after clearing Naxx but hopefully enough hang around to still have fun.

At least 2 months. I am closing on a house in October and may have to take a break. I plan to come back though, unlike retail where I get bored and don’t come back until a new expansion.
