you try and use it for a couple of weeks, realize its a complete failed system for all but the megaservers, you quit trying, you dont even bother spamming chat anymore. you end up taking a random invite to a guild with 1k + members, find that no one knows anyone and doesnt care what help you need, you leave the guild. you repeat this guild process across half a dozen guilds with no luck, find out blizzard is killing off your server so you transfer to one of the 3 options they allow. you end up picking one of the servers that is your dominant faction, because why bother strugglin with a balanced server. you again proceed to accept random guild invites finding that most contain nothing but number crunching ocd min/max hardcore sweatlords or guilds that just dont care what help you offer, need, or groups to run with. until finally after about 4 months, you stumble across a small newly formed guild of people that are as tired of everything as you are. and tadaah, NOW you have your social experience.
so to sum up… most guilds are garbage hardcore no lifers, if you want lfg to actually work, go to the mega servers and deal with all the toxic players and the swarm of bots, or realize that LFG is a total dumpster fire providing no social interaction, then spend 4 months not saying hardly a word to anyone till you stumble into a guild where 30 people out of 500 actually talk in chat.
for many, the one and only time they will speak in chat, lol.
I’ve learned to avoid sweat lord crews. usually a kick involved anyway. One time 2 dudes trashing up chat for a solid half an hour with parse e-ego crap.
I jsut ahd to go dudes…you are clearly replacing parsing for comparing the size of something else. why don’t you work out a way to compare that to end this crap.
I was not long for that crew. the kick came before I was finished doing something else to remove myself lol.
you have spoken the unspoken truth. now, they will come for you…
some aren’t anti-social. some jsut don’t want to talk with everyone lol.
why, for me, discord is liked. Its like a TV. don’t like the channel, change it. only locked in channels are group stuff. there you jsut suck it up. or you go it ain’t worth it.
I’m in a guild of 90 that does just fine on a non-megaserver.
LFG works for when I want to do weird things, and you constantly recognize people’s names who are also looking and can invite them based off of past experience (or not, if that experience was poor). RDF removes all of that. The RDF mentality is what created this toxic “ugh i dont like something im leaving after 20 minutes” culture we have now.
really? not buying it based on the fact that the character youre posting from in a wrath classic forum appears to be retail. so while i admit, it may be you have a classic toon, then provide proof of your statement from classic. obviously you arent on smaller server. which was in my original post, it works for mindless mega server sweatlords. but not for the rest of the population.
and which server are you on as a classic player because the one this character youre posting on is from retail, so youre either on a mega server or youre just another anti rdf troll popping in from retail.
at a guess I’d say atiesh. its not mega enough to be called mega but its a very lively medium.
For now. I was on atiesh at some point. when its raid log time officially, the place raids logs with the best of them. or gdkp’s, jsut like the mega’s lol.
why I haven’t pulled the trigger to go back there. it is livelier than OB.
But…I was there when tbcc was in raid log mode officially. Not looking spend $75 for a rerun of that. I can get dead air time on OB and save that $75 for 3 chars lol.
I was in a vanilla classic guild that really wanted the members to get to know each other an be social. But they knew people just didn’t talk much in guild chat. You pretty much have to stop playing to type. So they pushed people to get on discord when ever there was a dungeon run or guild activity. Of course we always used discord or earlier vent or team speak but this guild really wanted members in discord for ordinary play. I’m an old time original wow player before there was discord so it felt a little weird at first to be pressured into it but after I got used to it I kinda liked it.
