How leveling feels currently

It seems backwards like you start off like the Karate Kid at level 110 and you are able to kick butt hard and beat the toughest guys in the tournament. Then you go through the training and learn all the techniques like wax on wax off and you get weaker until you are back to the scrawny kid before training at 120 and you get your butt handed to you every fight! But then you have to do all the training again and eventually you get back to where you started off at 110.

I used to love doing the training and feeling like Bruce lee or Chuck Norris after the training and leveling. You could go back and kick some major butt without breaking a sweat.

It just seems wrong now.

I agree, the progression of levelling is just strange right now. I recently levelled a priest (shadow) from 20-120 and at the beginning I was ridiculously OP. Stayed pretty strong until about level 80 then suddenly things got slow… picked up again around level 100, then by 120 I was pitifully dropping dead to normal mobs.

I wore the same set of heirlooms the whole time, so my gear was consistent. IMO, this isn’t how it should work; you should start off weaker and then get stronger as you progress in a gradual but consistent way. It would feel a lot more satisfying.

the chance of blue and purple drops I guess I nice. If you actually get them for non loom slots I guess. I don’t usually.

WoD feels off to me. Hit the nightborne to try and go for legion unlock. Maybe its me but leveling here is not as fun for horde as it is for alliance.

Like I have one mission turn in. I see the yellow question mark. I know they are there. But they aren’t visible. Cave runs under the area they are supposed to be in too. Nope…not there.

Alliance seems to be more straight forward here in WoD.

But yeah scaling makes this not fun. You accept you won’t feel “heroic” until level 120 and 340+ ilevel. LOng way to get there…

Your autocorrect changed awful to awesome.

Opps sorry, sure did.

Scaling is an awfully amazing feature that the new developers blessed us with.

The entire world AND dungeons/raids should scale with ilvl. Then we would be truly blessed.

Agreed. Hopefully the developers continue to spread this feature throughout all aspects of the game.

Living up to the expectations of a Sunday WoW thread.

i did see the remake of it but i don’t know if that’s the same

No this is a major problem in wow right now. I even made a post titled if you are ganked dont get your main and posted proof. Your low level charters are your strongest characters in the game right now. By a lore stance, Blizzard should disable all lender stats as soon as the next xpac launches as they were only made to server for those specific fights. You have level 110s that go around and Kill everything. No one above their level can stop them, no one below their level can stop them and the only ones at their level who can stop them are those smart enough to have kept their gear.

TL;DR version of this thread:

Leveling feels bad. For new folks, it’s mindlessly easy so they get to end game and give up when they suddenly are expected to have learned things the game doesn’t require for leveling anymore. For us old timers (yes, I played Vanilla before we called it that), it’s mind numbingly boring and way way way too long before we get to content we haven’t seen already several times.

I wish I knew how to fix this problem, but there’s a pretty fundamental disconnect between leveling for new players and leveling alts for existing players. And right now, both are suffering and not getting much from the process.

I’ve actually never noticed this, on my 3 mains:

Blood DK

BM Hunter

Holy Priest

Is this more of a PVP thing? As far as regular player content, I do feel more buff as I level.

The Hunter is about to turn 118, but the Holy Priest only just turned 111. So maybe I’ll notice it more with her?

I’ve also really enjoyed scaling. All three of the characters can go to whichever zone, then we also got sent to the Horde areas. Good times!

You can thank scaling for that. Ilvl scaling is garbage. mob level scaling is meh…
