I’ve been wanting to try a new class. How are they? Also how are they in mythic +??
Recently switched mains from dh to monk (BrM in raids and m+, WW in pvp). Ww has great burst in pvp and amazing mobility/utility (interupts/stun/slow/ring of peace) Our main cd is very short so if the match drags out a bit you have your burst back up before a lot of other classes.
Mythic plus WW has great aoe for trash packs, good utility, increased party run speed and a 5% melee damage buff. A teir in my opinion. Where we fall off is single target damage.
I’d definitely take a WW Monk over a Ret Pally for a mythic + anyday.
Aoe Stuns, ring of peace, single target CC, great sustained AOE.
I just want to be able to kick butt in arenas or duels but also be able to tank and heal mythic+. Monk sounds like a good fit but you guys have played them more so your opinions are greatly appreciated
I don’t really pve, but I’ve been playing Arena since S1 in BC. WW is one of my favorite specs (second only to Affliction, RIP), because they offer so much in 2s and 3s:
- High mobility
- High burst
- Medium sustained damage (recently buffed)
- MS effect
- High utility
You’re perfectly capable of kicking butt with almost any healer in 2s, playing double dps 2s, and have many viable comps in 3s. However, you are fairly squishy, so you’ll want to be aware you’re playing more of a squirrely “assassin” spec than a bruiser like Warrior, DK, or DH.
So the spec is definitely good and Gladiator-viable, but to determine if you’re going to have fun you need to look at your desired play style. WW plays like halfway between Rogue and Warrior, but with offheals. You’ll be switching targets a lot, peeling for your team, and helping set up kills more than just YOLOing down your chosen victim.
If you want to just W key mongo one target until it dies, you’re better off playing DH, DK, or Ret. If you want the ultimate in peels and “Setup and Go” then you’re better off playing Assassin. WW has aspects of both, but requires a lot of “getting in and getting out”, and adapting your playstyle to counter your opponent (rather than just doing the same thing every game like DH or Destro).
If you want a whole bunch of choices in every situation, and success requires choosing the best one, WW is for you. Let me know if you have any more-specific questions I can answer
Both spec are T1 in pvp, and probably really good in mythics+ too
I would agree with everything said here, so long as you’re comfortable playing MW in BGs. If you don’t do RBGs, WW is hands down one of the most fun and engaging pvp specs. This is the one and only reason I play DK and not WW as a main. Unholy is god tier in RBGs, but both Unholy and Frost are gladiator viable in 2v2, 3v3, and 5v5.
there was a time when it was
Let me guess, you’d prefer them when they have every ability in the game and could literally 1v2 at 2000 rating? People like you are the reason everything gets gutted lol. If it isn’t OP you hate it.
MW is really easy to pick up and learn how to heal with, however you need to have more awareness than most healers because if you don’t successfully read a go and they swap to, you will blow up. You can easily die in a kidney shot. You need to learn how pre-wall or port before they can swap to you.
My guy, I played WW monk when it was at its most sht (aka EARLY wod), I played it because i enjoyed it in MOP, and still enjoyed it then
all WW monk is now is a pruned version mix of its former self, and some weird form of a warrior.
If your terminology for being “OP” is having a lot of buttons to press & having alot of utility/tools, then ABSOLUTELY that’s when i’d prefer them, BUT I firmly believe that EVERY single class in the game should have equally the amount of tools as well, and this once existed in an expansion called MOP, which was a reason so many people loved it, this type of class design also existed in TBC, in WOTLK, etc.
So to sum it up, I don’t understand what your point is, because EVERY classes design should have a shtload of tools like they did in previous expansions.
Your “insult” didn’t actually end up being one on this topic.
You’re aware you’re posting this from a DH right
