How is this RNG?!?!

40 dos and 6 Soa but no weapon drop. This isn’t Rng, this is rigged.

weighted rng

What does that mean?

Weapons do seem weighed (against) in content and (for) in the Vault.

Rigged would be getting weapons frequently, though.

If it is weighted it is not random.

Hey, if it makes you feel any better, you’re not alone.

This rogue never got Pox sword from PF. I’ve cleared PF over 200 times in Season 1 and 90% of the time, I had 3/3 M+ slots unlocked. I still don’t have it.
My tank never blood scale from DoS.
My tank was running with 197 weapon till KSM S1. I got 210 version about a month after I got KSM and 226 towards the very end of S1.
My healer never got Mists haste trinket. Nor he never got weapon/shield from the vault.

I think you’ll have much better luck getting a weapon from the vault than the dungeon itself as myself and most of my friends I run have had a weapon or 2 drop from the vault while almost never seeing them drop from the dungeons chest.

The 3 main toons I have right now (main being a relative term) all got weapons from the vault in a week or 2 after doing Mythic+ regularly. My Hunter actually got a 226 bow in the vault on his first try.

Of course, I’ve ran over 10 Mythics+'s a week since the season started, so that may be a factor…

sounds like rng to me

My buddy has done plaguefall endlessly every week since the xpac started and has never seen the phial trinket drop or in his vault. RNG is rough man

My RNG rant: I’ve killed the Fallen Charger 35 times and no mount.

My husband killed it for the 2nd time last night and got the mount.

The older I’m getting, the more fed up with RNG I am. It’s not really compelling gameplay imo.

It’s RNG because it’s random. 46 runs isn’t necessarily an overwhelming number of chances considering that most completed keys will award two pieces of loot (so 40% chance you get loot at all), and then you have to roll the specific weapon you’re going for out of the entire dungeon’s loot table for your class/spec.

I don’t know what class/weapon you’re going for, so maybe you even have two shots at a weapon in these dungeons, but the odds are still not terribly high when most dungeons drop 10-12 items per spec. The odds are likely in the range of 3-4% for any given key you run.

I’ve vendored over a dozen weapons at this point. Don’t know what to tell you, maybe bad karma?

No, it really is RNG. RNG isn’t cumulative, where the more you do the more chance you get. Each chance is the same.

Best way to get a weapon: pvp

  • No RNG involved
  • definitive end point where you can acquire it from a vendor

Not random.

In point of fact it is. There are two types of probability at work here one of which is the “cumulative probability”. For example, rolling a 6 sided die has a 16.7% (1 in 6) probability of getting the number you wanted. However the “cumulative probability” of rolling that 6 sided die many times and NOT getting the number you wanted becomes vanishingly small (but never zero).

No, every roll you have on a 6 sided dice, is the same chance to get every single number. I can roll the dice a 100 times, and every time, its the same chance to get 1 or 3.

It’s a difficult concept for folks to grasp sometimes because it feels like a contradiction, but this is how probability works. The more times you roll that die the greater the “cumulative” chance you will hit the number you seek despite the fact that each individual roll has the same 1 in 6 chance.

Perhaps think of it like this: If you had a bag with 100 6 sided die and you poured it out onto the table, would you expect there to be a 1 in 6 chance that NONE of the die came up with the number you wanted? Of course not, you would fully expect that at least ONE had your number. And this is how cumulative probability works. The more rolls of the die, the greater the chance of success. It’s not a one to one thing - rolling a 6 sided die 6 times does not yield a 100% chance, but the more you roll, the greater the chance that ONE of those rolls will succeed.
