HOW IS THIS ACCEPTABLE? So if you change covenants you lose ALL PROGRESS?

I look forward to this reply in every Preheat thread, and you’ve delivered multiple times now.

Because I knew it was going to happen? I picked covenants for Tmog and mounts as those will go on more than likely where these abilities that provide upticks in damage will probably only last this expansion.

its not great but I take a lot longer breaks from WoW that I once did. It is what it is and blizzard does seems happy with making a new system each expansion.

I’m not enraged because I will never switch covenants anyway lol

I mean, just pick the covenant you find relevant for your character to begin with. Otherwise, everything you worked for (mogs, anima, covenant features, ability to use certain mounts) is going to get locked away unless you switch back. Stupid system, I know but it reflects the adversarial attitude development staff have towards the player base.

Ummm…because you changed your allegiance?

This isn’t Facebook gaming, newb.

Yep. Pretty much.

Thats why i have 4 charters in covnet and 56 not

I miss that guy.

Don’t tell him about that he’ll also lose all of his renoun and soulbinds as well… Somewhat easily made up, sure… but all of those nice purple conduits… gone… I’d be more upset about that, than the cosmetics stuff.

Despite his poor trolling performance he has a point.

Blizzard can’t seem to make up their minds so we’re getting the worst of both worlds.

When they first introduced this the choice was permanent and we pointed out they wouldnt be able to make any balance changes to covenants if we couldn’t change our minds afterwards. So of course they immediately decided to let us change it, because Blizzard refuses to give up control over every minutia of this game, (which is why they hate Mloot so much, it makes it harder for Blizzard to control how fast people gear up) but naturally they aren’t going to pass on the chance to stick it to the playerbase for pointing out their flawed system, so they make it a pain to swap.

The only conduits you lose are the covenant specific ones. The soulbinds have to be unlocked though.

Do not summon Rastlin…

Beta Players: “Hey this is really a problem. Especially if Blizzard changes Covenant powers after launch, driving players to switch covenants. You know this will probably screw people and unfairly penalize them for things that could and should be fixed now, during the beta.”

White Knights: "How dare you raise such a valid point? Your stupid and so is your argument."
Blizzard: “It won’t be a problem, promise™.”

“Promise entails that the reverse will almost absolutely happen, and in the most detrimental, and hassle-ridden way possible. Promise does not actually promise anything, other than myriad attempts to convince you to buy more micro-transactions and character services; while watering the game down with as many roadblocks and artificial barriers as can be legally contrived. “Promise” implies in no way a good faith covenant, or anything remotely similar. “Promise” merely promises that if you can be delayed from cancelling to stretch out time played, with gaudy mounts or time-commitment bundles to please the share-holders; then you will be. Absolutely. Please do not make plans based on a “promise” as Blizzard will not be liable for any misuse, use, or even casual glancing at a “promise”. Promise exists to ensure there is a certain requisite level of tedium in all tasks conducted. If you find any portion of the game to be too simple or hassle free, please file a bug report immediately.”

I take no joy in writing the above about a company I have loved for decades. But it is what it is.

It’s almost like choosing your covenant is something you should consider carefully before you do it.

Ignoring the details, all I see is this:

Some player is upset and using ALL CAPS, because the game design is not exactly what HE wants.

One more question: is the poster the king of the world? Because if he is king of the world, Blizzard should do what he wants. If not, they shouldn’t.

My goal is to fill the Bastion Anima Reservoir then move to the Night Fae Covenant, Reinforce all Anima Streams, Fill the Reservoir, complete the Campaign, move on to Revendreth, Reinforce all Anima Streams, Fill the Reservoir, complete the Campaign and finally move on to my precious Maldraxxus Covenant!

Because I don’t become emotionally unstable over a video game…

Also… we knew this before launch… this isn’t news.
