How is the new forum going to work?

I am curious about this, how is it going to work exactly, they say you will be able to 'post more often' if you are good, but what does this actually mean, does this mean that when we start we will have a limit on how often we can post??

Also, are the good MVP's like Bluespacecow and so on going to still be around as MVPS? We need them.
Best guess is that the 60 second limit will be shorter. Maybe.

Doubt MVP's will be any different than they are now.

Seems like they will have a post limit now which I worry a bit about. Can no long just post replies to stuff and threads all day unless maybe at a very high trust level.

Yeah, that's a little frustrating, well I will guess I have to do my best to not say anything that could be construed as racist, homophobic, religiousist, and so on...can be hard sometimes as so much is seen as sexist and offensive these days, when imo it's not.

Oh well, will just adapt to it.
I just normally like posting in random thread but I don't do it often, I want to know how you gain rep, with the forums so that you can post more often.

If it is based on your past post history and you normally don't post much will you ever get to being trusted?

Everyone's starting over (effectively), so I don't know that post history will be relevant. The first trust level doesn't take much effort.
Someone linked this earlier, a guide to the various trust levels:
https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/heroes/t/new-forum-syntax-guide-details-about-trust-levels/380
It's from the Heroes of the Storm forums. I thought it was a good read, so I bookmarked it.
I can't wait to make fun of people with higher post counts than me.

You've all been warned.

Assuming they keep the same trust levels how it'll work is this -

There'll be certain definable things you can do to raise your trust level. Once you achieve a new trust level you get to do new things on the forums.

Everyone starts out at trust level 0 (except maybe MVPs)

This level is limited to being able to make 3 new forums threads and 5 replies. However this level is the simplest to upgrade from - spend 10 minutes reading the forums and you should be able to go up to trust level 1 where there is no post limits.

Highest is Level 3 which gives you the ability to post inline images amongst other things. The nitty gritty details on the trust levels haven't been confirmed for the wow forums yet so stay tuned !

I'm not going anywhere. I'll still be around. And if our discord conversations are any indication neither will any of the other MVPs.
GCD for forums posts

got to wait for it cooldown before posting again :)
It'll be basically like it is now except for a few things.

You will now either be a "good" poster and get privileges, that's right folks, checking your privilege is not just for white men anymore!

Or you will be a "bad" poster and have very little wiggle room in what you can or cannot do.

And just who decides if you are a good or bad poster?

Why the other posters, the MVPs and the mods. Better tow that liberal line or off you go.

And the best part?
If it works like their other forums, you eat a ban here, you can't play the game.

Muhahahahaha

Enjoy!
The Overwatch forums are pretty nice. You get a notification when people respond to your post (or Topic if you're the OP), so it makes holding a conversation a bit easier.

Pro-tip. If you want to link URL's you won't be able to (as URL's are naturally hyperlinked, and you can't link hyperlinks until level 3.

However, if you use the "preformatted text" option (it will look like the current "Code" button </>) you can remove the hyperlink from the URL and you don't have to get around it by making it something like "w ww.google.com" like some people do.

I do admit it'll be interesting to be on THAT end of things for once. It was always so silly when if someone wished to offend me they'd go "Yeah well. YOUR POST COUNT" Now if people wish to insult me they'll actually have to know a thing or two about me.

Yeah, I'm not gunna admit I know what the HotS forums are like, but I've been banned multiple times on the OW forums and it's had zero impact on my in-game experience.

Also lol @ "towing the liberal line". Unless you're directly insulting people, you're not gunna get banned.

Unless of course you're one of those idiots who posts "WHY DOES TRACER HAVE THE BIG GAY" threads.

-slow sigh-

Those threads went on for like 2 weeks straight when Tracer was revealed gay. Normally I like a good fight but that was ROUGH trying to talk some sense into those cry babies

They still pop occasionally, get like 200 posts in an hour and then immediately get deleted because they're nothing but flamebait.

But I gotta laugh at the "forced down our throats" argument, considering you can ignore one panel in Tracer's comic and you'd have literally no way of telling that Emily simply isn't Tracer's friend.

Yeah meanwhile I had straight stuff to deal with all my life oh but it's fine when they do it -_- Some people just don't like sharing.
Well, seems almost impossible not to think that they are trying to control the forums with the GCD and the privilege system. We will end with all white knights talking to their self about how awesome is everything. So much for listen the players feedback. Shame.

*cough* Not true. They are not likely to change what they deem bannable with this new forum unless it's adding more things to be bannable for.

I got banned for insulting a 3d model and it wasnt even as a reference to a living person.
