Herald any good now?
probs not
herald needs to close a 10% gap with Templar. while this bug fix is impactful. it will still need a bit to close the gap
also RG currently has a bug that makes every dawnlight it applies go on random target and not your main. which means a sizeable dps loss when dawnlight drops in cleave content
or worse on a bomb that takes no damage on mugzee
They meant
“herald needed to close a 10% gap with templar,”
Arahgon is a big templar fan and uses DH in inflate shake the heavens procs, something that is quiestionable if intended. (Even they and ben admits it may not have been intended and say “it’s a happy accedent”)
Take out DH’s enteraction with shake the heavens from the picture and herald and templar competes with each other.
If they can remove divine hammer ticks proving radiant glory, then they always had the capability of removing dh ticks from procing sth btw
We also reported divine hammer doing this all ptr of 11.1. I’ve also reported it to my contact thinking it was a bug
It’s still here
Yes removing dh from procing sth would close the gap. But as I’ve stated multiple times before over and over and OVER AGAIN
why do we have to nerf ret and its multiple good interactions and synergy’s instead of buffing herald
Instead killing Templar synergies. Why not fix herald and make it more healthy by adding synergies to it.
Why do we always fall to “let’s make ret( the lowest st dps spec btw) do less st so I can play Herald :)”
Like why do we always go into this degenerate thinking of mediocrity to make poor choices more viable. It doesn’t make sense at all.
Btw I was a herald fan from day one since its announcement. The fantasy of using the power of the sun to burn enemies away was peak aesthetic and fit my own characters rp stuff. Thats why I want herald to succeed, to be healthy and interact with the core spec more. I won’t allow it to stay mediocre as long as I have a chance on changing it. We are ment to have these hero specs for two more expansion, we can’t let one of them be passive ret+ and have these issues for two more expansions
Blizzard tends not to do balance fixes mid season. If they change it, it will be through the next seasonal patch.
Unless it is badly needed of course.
They quite literally did that bug fix in the beginning of the patch when it was live. We’ve reported dh doing this with sth since its inception.
If they make dh not proc sth then they better buff ret core spec by a metric ton to compensate.
Even then it would feel bad, cause we’re losing a fun synergy because some ret players hate fun
Not to templar.
But please do tell me how much this is intended when the patch notes that nerfed templar, which also seemingly realeased dh, noted templar was doing too much damage only for everyone to discover templar wasn’t really nerfed if they took DH with it somehow being an intentional thing.
Do you just like? Choose to not read what I type???
We’ve blasted this interaction all of ptr, we’ve reported it all of ptr thinking it was a bug. People with direct feedback avenues also reported it
Blizzard responded with removing rg pricing. From dh ticks but not sth being proced by ticks
Idk what you want us to think, but it was clear blizzard had a huge window to fix dh in every way and they did btw. But they left the sth interaction in
Seems intentional to me.
I’m not engaging anymore btw, I’m not turning another thread into a great brie thesis essay on how ret should be played and how everyone but him is wrong
This.
Right.
Here.
This
Depending on the context, having dawnlight spread out could be beneficial if the AoE damage it deals is tuned appropriately.
You know, getting the full value of Dawnlight out + multiple AoE going on instead of some of it’s duration wasted on 1 target that dies before it runs out and having just 1 AoE but Gleaming ray active the whole time.
There’s probably some optimization to do depending the fight length for M+ but no one is gonna look into that until it’s worth it.
Given how Sun Avatar work, I’d surmise the random nature of the application is intended.
When you don’t take RG, AW also applies Dawnlight at random.
Id just love templar to hit hard HoL again in pvp. Was my playstyle. I don’t mind herald but ya that still needs some buffs in PvP as well
if tuned appropriately is the key word here. dawnlight is tuned in a way that it needs 100% uptime on its primary target to be worth. it randoming dropping off from your main target cause RG decided to put your dot on another target kinda kills it even more.
for example, lets sayyyyy gallywix electric phase. you want all your dot on gally but you proc rg, congrats now your dot is on one of the bomb adds that literally die in 2 seconds (heroic example) so you effectively wasted a dawnlight and now t he one on gally is about to drop
lovely to see its a issue on all wings… it should always be one on your primary target and depending on the types of wings, the others are randomized. this really kills the hero spec.
idk why people like to nerf the spec to make mediocre stuff less mediocre. its silly
I feel like you should have at least 1 dawnlight target your main target on the wings that spawns more than 1.
For RG it should act the same, I don’t think it’s a big ask for blizz, and you can then decide through the spender you use on who you want the 2 others.
But it’s not an issue for M+ per say.
Either way, it’s irrelevant because it’s still behind in AoE by a good margin as well.
its behind cause it has no good synergies again.
it does nothing of note and it needs to itneract more with our baseline kit to have the same capabilities of templar or it will always be behind.
If it’s was never intended it really isn’t a nerf.
it not being intended has the same amount of evidence of it being intended
your just talking out your behind because you have a agenda against divinehammer and templar
So clearly the interaction itself is irregular and not something I think they intended when they reworked Divine Hammer.
Having said that, it is absolutely a conscious decision (in other words intended) at this point to leave it as is for now.
I don’t think it will survive the expac, hell, I don’t think it’s something we’ll see next season.
I think they can keep the concept and apply it to baseline Ret through Divine Arbiter, I even think they could make Empyrean Hammer gather stacks of DA as well.
I don’t think that would make Ret particularly OP and that would be a nice way to keep the idea alive without the egregious concessions made to allow the current iteration to live.
(Divine hammer not really scaling with haste and Empyrean hammers being nerfed by 30% to account for DH spawning more)
Edit:
As a sidenote, I just simmed Herald and It’s 4% behind in ST for my M+ build and 7% behind on 5 targets compared to templar.
Definitely an option for Heroic raid and and weekly 10’s for vault.
7% behind is still massive
But 4% st is digestible I guess, rg still puts its dawnlight on random targets which means the gap for that is still somewhat wider than sims show rn
It is not by any stretch competitive with Templar, if someone is progging or pushing keys and playing Herald, it’s trollish…
But at this point in the season, heroic raid and 10’s are relatively comfortable.
The RG interaction probably kills it on some fight though.
basically every fight that summons adds
which i guess almost every boss but sprocket and cauldron
