How is Rogue?

Hello to my rogue friends!

With the major rework, I’m looking to switch classes. I’m a PVE player (Mythic Raid and M+), and I am thinking of using the class rework time as an opportunity to switch classes. I played the last season as WW, so I have a taste of what it’s like to be a neglected class. However, my hope is that rogues fare a little better than WW for PVE content since there are 3 dps specs - more chances to be “decent”.

My question is this, historically have you felt that one of your specs was highly competitive? My hope is Rogue is like Mage in that one spec is always good.

Rogue is…a mixed bag. Rogue does bring one unique toolkit with atrophic poison but its exact value is debatable. (I personally wish Rogue brought a raid crit buff myself)

Usually Assassination consistently performs well but the rework has left it undertuned (consensus is too little energy gen) and it is consistently underperforming on beta.

Outlaw - as usual - has fantastic cleave but garbage single target.

Subtlety is looking like the best PvE spec for Rogue for now. Solid burst, good survivability, great single target and AoE. Plus it will benefit greatly from the very rare raid necklace, so that’s a plus.

The big thing that’s hurting Rogue for M+ is our lack of an AoE stop. I cannot fathom why Blizzard took AoE blind from us. An AoE stun would really help make Rogue more appealing for M+ since Shroud is completely useless these days.

None of the Rogue specs are S tier so you probably won’t be topping the meters, but you’ll do fine.

M+ comp meta is - ONCE AGAIN - going to be mage + warlock + another magic class.

I’m enjoying PvE as Sub, but damage output could be better tuned. Outlaw is horrible (in my opinion), and I haven’t felt the need to switch to Assassin, yet.

welcome to the shadows brother, enjoy your stay. and expect neglect all the same. best of luck to you out there.

Rogues are a huge W heading into Midnight expansion. There are going to be more rounds of tuning of numbers. Sub and Outlaw feel fantastic to play right now. Assassination is not far behind if they tune up some of its energy.

Thank god. I’m glad you saw the blue post i missed it. Was waiting for one so i could stick with my rogue, but so far haven’t seen the response to our inquiries

Historically? Yes.

Currently? Not for sin.

Sin peaked design wise in DF and TWW, and now it’s apparently our turn to sit on the bench.

Sub is fun, but ironically I was thinking about maining WW this expansion. Those shadowpan visuals are just too good. I love flashy teal stuff exploding everywhere during FoF.

I’m liking all three specs, as someone who has played Rogue off and on since Legion.

Could make a point about simplification, but everything got simplified, not just Rogue. Subtlety still feels chunky without the added overhead, Assassination actually feels better at this cadence (imo), and Outlaw feels a little more consistent in gameplay overall.

You feel this way because you don’t understand the specs.

Look, I’m just finding the classes of the lot I like playing the most, and at this point that list went from “most/all of them to some extent” to literally two. Rogue and Paladin.

I’m working with what I’ve got.

Didn’t ask for condescension. I’m allowed to disagree with you on gameplay feel. Thanks.

Not with takes that bad.

I’m not allowed to like something?

Who died and made you king of anything? I didn’t say I was right or that the cadence was good objectively. I said the cadence is better in MY OPINION.

Lmao the spec literally cannot be played in an efficient manner. If you like it, its because you spend your time killing open world mobs where pacing doesnt actually matter. It still plays like dogwater in literally everything else and youre not special for ignoring that objective fact. Your opinion means even less when you do ignore it actually.

Or I like it because I like it? Maybe, just possibly?

I’m not claiming to be special. I said that the cadence is good, in my opinion.

Your vitriol will not inform any changes to my opinion, sorry.

I know it won’t. If your opinion were capable of changing, you never would’ve shared that one :sob:

Is this degree of vitriol necessary?

I mean, you opinion wasn’t either.

I hope you enjoy your future endeavors on the forums.
