I’m looking to level this toon to max level, but want to know if it’s worth it. I don’t do well with squishy classes, which is why I main fury warrior. I don’t need to be topping the meters, as long as my dps is decent and I can solo stuff without a constant fear of dying, then I’m good. I abandoned both my monk and demon hunter, because I had survivability issues with both classes, especially when compared to my warrior main.
So how is Rogue? specifically Outlaw in the end game. Also, is there a rotation bloat?
Pretty good, for Outlaw. Evasion, Cloak of Shadows, Feint, Crimson Vial, Vanish, and Cheat Death all help survivability a lot. They also have Kidney Shot for a strong stun, which helps with survivability. Float Like A Butterfly lets your Restless Blades and True Bearing reduce the CD on Evasion also.
The rotation can get somewhat fast-paced, depending your build. You have to be prepared to manage uptime on multiple buffs (Slice and Dice, Roll the Bones), and many builds have procs like Fan the Hammer and Audacity that you have to pay attention to.
There’s also a little bit of a minigame involved in optimizing Roll the Bones specifically that can be hard to keep a handle on at first.
Also, Outlaw has strong mobility with Sprint and Grappling Hook, which while not straightforward survivability, can help you out of tight spots.
For subtlety it’s not bad so long as you play like a Rogue and not get too ambitious.
Tankiest melee class if you know when to press defensives and dodge avoidable damage.
Squishy, just like everything else if you don’t know what you’re doing, but you do have a cheat death as a safety net for mistakes.
I mean you have a cheat death and a no cooldown shield wall for pretty much everything that would hit you in PvE in Feint (wah it costs energy who cares).
They’re among the tankiest.
Rogues have:
- No CD / no target required Feint
- Cheat death
- Evasion
- Cloak
- Short CD movement / teleport abilities to get them out of trouble
The weakness comes in that they’re balanced around having pretty garbage self sustain.
All melee are about to be outclassed hard by Ret Paladin gods though, who in 10.0.7 will have
- 1 minute shield wall
- 1 minute 50% health absorb
- Lay on Hands
- Bubble immunity
- A reactive cheat-death heal
- Strong group and self sustain
- 2 charges of the fastest sprint in the game to get out of trouble
Hopefully the nerf bat swings at those 1 minute DR/absorb CD’s before things go live.
Stealth.
And run to a corner nobody is near.
I’ll let you know as soon as I get out of this sap.
Rogue is practically unkillable. Between feint, 8 yard melee, cloak, grapple/shadowstep, and cheat death there should be no reason you die in a dungeon you’re familiar with.
This video taught me how to survive as a rogue, and it also helped me get my “Lord Of War” title.
Cloak alone makes them one of the most durable classes.
Demon hunter is really good when it comes to survivability so if you didnt like DH your not gonna like rogue for sure
