I haven’t played retail since the 2nd week of shadowlands. I just returned to WoW in phase 2 of SoD. While I do love SoD I fear the end is looming near.
What’s keep me interested in WoW is usually PvP, as well as a good group to enjoy it with.
I know it’s early but how is PvP in retail so far? Mainly BGs?
The War Within has the best PvP since Warlords of Draenor (2014-2016), because it’s easier to obtain pvp gear with honor, world pvp iten quests, and now you can transfer honor for alts, also there’s a solo queue for arenas and rbg’s

Very nice. If I wasn’t so far behind I’d def dive into it. My highest lvl toon On retail is 60
leveling is way easier now, i got full pvp honor gear in 2 days

They are retuning everybody on the 17th , per blue post above, so don’t get comfortable
I love it
Currently, PVP is friendlier to healers than in the past (long-duration CC has been reduced from 8sec to 6sec, interrupt durations are shorter by 1 second, healer trinket is 1m 30sec, and every healer has an immunity type CD where they can cast) in order to incentivize more people to heal.
BGs are great, blitz is a blast, and gets much better around the 1.5K-1.6K rating mark, because at lower ratings most people play it like a random BG
Class balance is in an OK spot, both melees and casters have strong options (unholy/fury and frost/affli)
Hunters feel better than ever in terms of utility and defense
The biggest downside of modern PVP is the huge bloat - there are so many buffs and debuffs that you need weak auras and similar to know what’s going on

I like it so far. Seems pretty fair. If i lose I feel like i got outplayed, or it was my fault. Not I got one shotted by an OP class.
these days PvP stands for Pbot vs Pbot. the p is silent like psycho.
nah just kidding, idk.
I will forever argue this is a bad bandaid that DF applied, and that Healers would have a better time if DPS rotations were just a little bit slower and burst outputs just a little bit lower as well… PvP hinges on well-timed CC setups. When those abilities are nerfed, the game shifts more into becoming a PvE-Spamming competition. Add, on top of that, one-shot shenanigans like what half of DF felt like to me… And IMO that’s a lot of PvP-specific skill taken out of the game for the sake of homogenization, which hurts the ‘essence’ of what makes WoW PvP so unique. I think the Solo-Queue options, again, while important due to the overall population decrease post-MoP add great variety and GREATLY improve accessibility (I’m grateful for Solo Queue as an off-region player)… also mean that there’s less communication, group-building and friend-making like in the pre ‘full automation’ area of PvP-finding.
I guess this is just the nature of this time and the trends that dictate the mechanics, but overall, I’m glad PvP is more accessible as that more people have options to dabble with it overall as to increase the potential pool of participation and reduce queue times (whether more people actually play it, though, remains to be seen. IMO more incentivization is required, which changes towards have been recently made… albeit without adding new/more reward tiers to give players across the ladder even more things to strive for. Perhaps rewards for different brackets could be introduced, etc… I really don’t like the fact BGB rewards RBG titles, basically nullifying the latter and the effort of the players who engaged with it… But that’s just a general anti-effort, anti-MMO trend in the entertainment culture, ala Trading Post).
I feel like this still happens but hope it will be fixed throughout the season as we gear up with Versatility and more tuning passes are made. I’m holding out for Midnight more, though, with hope that more actual passes at redesigning specs with PvP in mind will be made, and hopefully earlier into the development cycle so that we can get more robust feedback and fix the real issues. I actually far preferred my spec’s BfA version. Some classes just eat better than others…
in random BG? stay with the packs. dont try to lead the pack into objectives. just fall back and stay with the packs
win ratio is still bad, but at least we can still enjoy the fight scenery instead of the graveyard scene
