So you have probably heard that blizzard is getting rid of most helpful addons for raids and dungeons, but todays raids and dungeons arent the same as old ones, they are extremely complex in mechanics compared to previous ones, is the difficult going to be dialed down? Or we going to have to fend for ourselves?
This isnt a post to complain but rather to picture how life is going to be like after the addonpocalypse
Addon functionality will either be incorporated into base UI or it’s so clearly part of the encounter’s challenge.
Fractillus shouldn’t be solvable with weakauras.
We’re all survive. I’ve been playing WoW for many years without addons and been playing the game successfully.

except so far the dev team has shown that the “replacements” are a joke so far.

sure for lower level content thats fine but mythic raid and higher keys they are very important.
No, it’s not.
Better players will succeed in harder content as will be.
I’m not sympathetic to people needing addons to solve Fractilius instead of actually playing the encounter if the addons were banned.
Same for every other way players get gapped due to lack of addons.

thats all fine and dandy but what about fights like ovinax? sprocket? or stix on mythic. those would be insane to do without addons. its weird how you pick the easiest fight to use as an example of why we dont need addons.
In Shadowlands season 4, I’ve timed two mythic 20s and a bunch of mythic 19s. All without addons. I memorized what the mechanics are for those dungeons after doing them a few times on lower levels. Lots of practice = success.
All those would take significantly more time without weakauras solving it for people.
Sprocket wouldn’t be that much of a step up I think. 21st manning territory probably?
You need someone to call out 4 names… and that’s it.
Ovi’nax you’d probably have preplanned assignments and kinda roll the dice?
they would probably not be clearable by most mythic guilds today.
dont forget the color switching trying to figure out who is getting switched when in a pile of other people.
you cant preplan who gets the circles for ovinax you need two people on each of the designated eggs and you only have a few seconds to get there

Bosses in their original iteration isn’t clearable by most mythic guilds even with weak auras.
lol for every egg? do you understand the level of rng that would take? that sounds like a horrifying wipe fest not to mention thats how it would be for every attempted reclear as well.
and? they could have nerfed the mechanics at any time and made weak auras not needed but they didnt did they? do you think i like bosses like ovinax? because lets get something out of the way right now. i hate weak aura bosses they are horrible. blizz at any point could have backed down on these mechanics but they didnt. now we are in “trust me bro” mode for supposed future boss mechanics and built in combat add ons. i prefer to look at the current evidence. the cd manager has been out for how long and it still sucks it still has very little customizability.
They did. Stix was puggable towards the end, where it was one of “the” weakaura bosses.
A pug isn’t gonna have weakauras working when guilds struggle.
if it’s possible for a weakaura to solve it, and people think it’s easiest, it will become a weakaura boss because it’s projected to take fewer pulls.
The idea of an unkillable boss isn’t going to happen in modern WOW.
Limit / Echo will kill every boss within 3 weeks max. Blizz will put them on sale if they have to.
puggable sure. without weak auras? doubt it. you know what the first question asked when i would pug it on my alt was? do you have liquids wa pack installed.

this a fair point but my counter to that is who cares? who cares if guilds use a weak aura to make a boss easier? im actually curious as to who this affects because so far it seems like it only hurts blizzards dev teams ego.
just because something isnt mathematically undoable does not mean it isnt insanely silly to complete. they can make an rng boss that has a 1 10000 chance to be killed. that means it can physically be killed but is that a satisfying boss fight? im all for getting rid of weak aura bosses but they dont take that step. you know what all they would have had to do to make ovinax a better boss? extend the time to get to an egg by about 5-10 secs. thats it. weak auras are now not needed for that fight. heck i would go so far and say that would make it one of the most fun fights in that raid if that happened.
this is kinda what i was refering to, high keys and mythic raiding are going to be a nightmare, maybe it means the mythic race is going to take longer? it will be interesting to see.

high keys won’t. It will just decrease the max, which is fine, it’s on a relative scale.
content development will follow along with the lack of addons. it will be good.
