Is frost rotation pretty fun? Was thinking of this or balance druid.
It really depends on how you feel about filling an energy bar vs. Reacting to procs. You’ll probably like frost better from a game play perspective if you like dh as you’re probably mashing buttons more often overall as frost and dh is spammy. If you care about numbers legend has it we are not super great at mythic raiding.
Balance has a proc too but it would happen less in a dungeon and isn’t as involved as mashing flurry and then ice lance right after to shatter the ice lance
The most fun I’ve had with pve and rotations since I’ve been playing. Seen plenty of people that don’t like though
I recall it relying a lot on procs and instant casts at the start of BFA I insta 110 one and attempted to level it but switched. Is it more or less the same?
Why do people not like it?
I tend to like it a lot - it is very proc based, and relies on procs firing off for fun. Otherwise you’re just sitting there firing off Frostbolts, which is very unsatisfying. Some pulls I’ll be doing very well dps-wise and shooting off ice lances and flurries constantly while other pulls I’ll be very displeased that my FoF and Brain Freeze procs simply arent manifesting. Thermal Void/Frozen Touch and Glacial Spike/Ebonbolt builds seem to be simming super close, so it’s really personal preference in most cases. (More competitive folks probably have more insight here)
It’s fun seeing 200k+ Glacial Spikes. There’s something so satisfying about near insta-gib the mob after the shadow priest wastes all that time putting dots on. Frost has a very simple rotation, but I like the design of the spec over Fire and Arcane. The DPS is much smoother instead of being bursty comparing to others. Mobility is decent outside of the 3 seconds cast Glacial Spike.
Relatively new player here… and I have played frost from level 1 (now level 52)…
My opinion is that frost is horrible to play until you reach mid level 30s… before that you feel so weak and defenseless and your attacks don’t do much. But now that I start to have the good abilities it feels much better. It does feel like playing the lottery though, and you do have to dance around to avoid getting hit… but I am starting to like this play style.
Can’t wait to finish leveling and start playing some endgame activities.
