How is farming a mount for better part of 20 years ok?

It blows my mind that Blizzard thinks this is good game design. Low drop rates on items only available for a week or two a year. People farming a mount almost long enough for that farming to vote. How is this ok?

I know some will come back with liking rarity and exclusivity, but again, almost Twenty. Years. of farming. That’s nuts.

Personally, I think when it comes to holiday stuff the rare drops should be for sale for holiday currency at a high enough price that it basically costs all the currency you could get for the holiday. That way if you farm it every day and it doesn’t drop and you’ve saved your currency you could buy one of the rare drops. With the current holiday that’s still three years of farming to get the mount, the saddle, and the rest of the holiday currency items. How is three years not enough of a farm?

Gotta push that /time played metric.

To be fair, farming the mount for 20 years is an entirely self-imposed problem for the players.

It’s just one cosmetic mount out of hundreds with no special value or capability other than what you have created in your mind. It’s ok not to have everything.

Of course, it makes it even more hilarious when people like me who never farm in get it.

It’s supposed to be elusive. You’re not supposed to have everything in the game.

That doesn’t actually make any sense though. The only time-based metric they have is monthly users, and this event is literally only available for one month lol

What he means is keeping people subbed for things. There may be people who resub specifically for certain events but with a rarity like that, it’ll keep them returning because they’re bound and determined to get it.

It blows my mind that people are so obsessive that they would do this. I am rather doubtful it is 20 years.

I think that people resubbing every February just to try and get the rocket is probably such a small demographic as to be completely inconsequential.

yep… the bane of my existence.

I was farming updated midnight since it became a thing, like clockwork every week since legion expansion ended, and quite a bit more runs during legion expansion because we could do more runs via mythic keystones.

no mount.

a few years later in shadowlands, my buddy is like “what you doing?” im like “im farming mounts” “ill come join you”

his 4th character in (I farmed with a full roster every week) he gets the drop…

after that I got pissed and only pop in every now and then to piss myself off even more. lol.

Why do you deserve everything? Some things you can’t have.

The saddles really shouldn’t have been low RNG drops.

Especially since as soon as they turn on dynamic flight for our old flying mounts nobody is going to care about the DF drakes anymore.

not like youll use the saddles 5 months from now in WW when you have your favorite old mount that dynamic flies

I do not think they were insinuating they deserve it. They were talking about time-specific items topped with low RNG.

I farmed a raid mount for a long time, finally got it after half a year. It sucks but it is what it is. I mean, you either make a valentine’s mount able to be farmed all year, which makes no sense. Or you raise the drop rate. Either way, it’ll be something everyone has.

because the mount isn’t required, players CHOSE to farm it for 20 years.

Me like proto drake

I wish wow did what FF does. Put a currency drop on a mount boss. Farm 99 of them and you can just go get the mount if it hasn’t dropped. If by 99 weeks you don’t have the mount, you deserve it for persistence.
