I need to start leveling out professions again and thought why not try engineering
I actually found engineering boring. Alchemy is about the same with its mechanics, but hard to progress.

from what i seen and read engineering went down hill
the i win button a 24 hr cd only use outdoors
the rezbot consume on use and has a chance to kill the players again

Waste of time. If you are targeting the helmet or gun or something then just roll engi on the toon, don’t level it, and get the item thru crafting order.
I wasted so much time on it and two sparks thinking I could craft decent helmet like most past expansions, and I’ve already replaced it. Maybe can refcraft to play around with it @ 405 but it’ll probably just get replaced again.
Profession knowledge feels bad but it feels really bad in engi

As an Engineer who has wasted a ton of knowledge points: Don’t waste your time. Engineering is garbage tier. Avoid it like the plague.

Not profitable
At least on my server anyway like focused on bracers thinking they’d be pretty popular but nope probably because of how many ingredients require engineering better off doing it in guild or for yourself

Engy is still fine, mostly caz of the wyrmhole. Its good every class can use it, even better engys can learn to pick what zone to go to (im still trying to get there, lol). You have 0 work orders to do tho, being noone wants engy stuff. engys want other stuff, like taloring/smithing stuff. Any engy stuff they can just make themself
So its fine, slower then other professions but still fine

Garbage. Pretty much no work orders. Demand for eng stuff is low. I’d probably go jewel crafting if I could do it over again.
Maybe at some point people will start picking up bracers with their sparks, but I’ve only filled one order in the last month and almost never see people asking for anything in trade.

So, you have a choice to make.
You know how engineering has fun toys?
Well, if you want this expansions fun toys you will need to spend your engineering knowledge points on the dumb toys tree.
Notably if your spending your points on the dumb toys tree you are not spending them on useful things.
So will you choose to enjoy your profession and be an engineer, or to get decent goggles? It’s certainly a meaningful choice, but it shouldn’t be a necessary one.

As others have said, engineering is unfortunately disappointing this time around. I still have it because I’ve been JC / engi since Wrath. And I’m too stubborn to give it up.
The old fan favorites remain the same. Goblin glider and some choice toys. Other than that? Meh.
Engineering has always been really bad to level.

Did you mean What is engineering like in Dragonflight?
At the very least at the current moment. Worth leveling up the older engineering.
Got only so far in DF and it is meh. Pretty okay for my hunter due to how easy it is to make rockets and needles for bows and guns. Other than that, I keep it so I can use nitro boost and glider for belt and cape as well looterang across all my toons.
