So in Classic we won’t have LFD, meaning running dungeons won’t be nearly as convenient as in Live. How important will doing them be for someone leveling up? Will the gear quality and experience make up for having to manually put together a group and travel to the dungeon entrance? While I would like to experience them at their intended levels, I also want to level up in a time efficient manor.
Na probs not, only do them if you have most of the dungeon quests.
Leveling gear/Dungeon gear. Kinda same same.
But if you’re level 55-59 start farming your pre raid BIS gear.
yeah basically get all the quests, and you can usually knock them all outing maybe with 2-3 runs with a good group not wiping. some of the longer dungeons like sunken temple, Mauradon and BRD may take more, and even some of the lower level ones SFD and ZF and Gomergarden take at least a few runs and quest turn in fully complete.
At one point, long ago before the random dungeons of today, there used to be a LFGroup tool, similar to how you can list a legacy premade today. I hope that feature is in, that was good to put a group together. you also have the LFG channel, and your server reputation will probably come into play quicker in your questing.
That’s another thing folks are going to have to get used to. You pick up the dungeon quests out in the world. There are no NPCs waiting for you inside the dungeon to hand out all the quests. There may be some as you progress through the dungeon (I don’t remember for sure), but they’re mainly going to found outside of the dungeon.
So kind of like Legion and BfA where the dungeons are only worth doing when you get the end of zone quests for them?
Dungeon quests will award you some blue items which, at low levels, is quite good and will last you for a while.
Some other dungeons, like SM, is worth running a few times because of the gear.
This is especially true for melee classes which are very dependent on their weapons as dungeon quest blues can be incredibly good.
Also running dungeons while leveling especially if you have most of the quests for them is simply fun and allows you to meet up people to fill up your friends list while leveling. It’s a social game and it certainly does not hurt to start making those connections early on.
My experience so far in beta (30 warlock)

Join a mega guild, like day 1. This will be your LFD. I can get in a deadmines group any time in under 5 min.

Some instances, like deadmines, you don’t want to miss out. Cookies stirring rod is an awesome wand, the main quest line is good xp and rewards a good blue item.
they will slow you down.questing is the fastest way to level and mob grinding.
now if you get the dungeon quiest turn ins done they are worth some exp but i would re do dungeons.
Not at all, dungeons in Vanilla aren’t always tied to its zone in term of leveling and story progression. Sometimes, you’ll find a quest for a dungeon that is on the other side of the world. Just do them at least once when you reach their level range and a second time once you found a bunch of quests for it (or look it up the internet). Anyway, unless you know where to find all the quests, you’ll be running a dungeon or two to fill in the gaps. It is much more pleasant than straight up grinding mobs.
I’d recommend doing dungeons at least once with as many quests as possible. Some items might be worth trying to pick up more than once but usually any gear you get will be replaced relatively soon.
One can level 1-60 efficiently without ever setting foot in a single dungeon. I however am on the opposite end of the spectrum. I will run every dungeon in my level range multiple times despite the efficiency penalty because vanilla dungeon content is so damned good.
It is faster to quest and grind then to put a group together and hike it cross country.
But that said, as a poster above said, their are some good armor and weapons in them which will help with the grind
Just make sure your ready to dedicate a good chunk of time if you want to run a dungeon, some of them take a while
gear and weapons out of instances
level via grinding / quests
That’s the vanilla way.
That deadmines quest reward…blue “Tunic of Westfall” will last quite a while with +11 agility.
In vanilla dungeon gear was not easily replaced with the next zone quest gear.
Trip Runner Dungarees also from Gnomer are pretty amazing.
Dungeons can also just be fun to do.
They can be skipped, but if you do, you’re missing out on half of the pre-raid content, and they are a lot of fun. Many of the stories my old guildmates tell start out with, “Remember when we were in [insert low level dungeon]…”
As others said, they will not slow your leveling at all if you do all quests, which give a lot of xp and good rewards.
Melee classes really need to run all dungeons because quest gear is very weak.
I’m already looking at farming guides (since I don’t recall every details) for that sweet Barman Shanker!
