How Important Is Your Character To You?

I’ve been debating doing something that could be considered “stupid”. My Alliance server is dying (everything is at least 10x more expensive than my Horde server) and my guild more or less is disbanded. I have a level 120 Horde Paladin, but under-geared and missing just about every achievement or unique item this Alliance Paladin has.

Plus, this is my original WoW character since day 1. There’s a serious amount of sentimental value attached to him. So, I’ve been considering “swapping” Paladins. Server + faction change this Paladin, and then deleting the current Horde Pally. There’s no attachment to it, it was a boosted character from WoD.

Even with the current discount, it’s still $46 just for sentimental (and achievements/titles/items) reasons.

So, what would you do? How attached are you to your main character? Enough to shell out nearly $50?

Important enough that I’m still not over the fact that Blizzard removed my Character’s main superpower in Legion.

Yeah, for sure. I’ve been thinking about this myself recently.

Unfortunately for me I also have a few important alts too so it would be closer to $200 for me.

If you only have the Pally, I say go for it. It’ll be a good move and make gaming that much more enjoyable for you.

I love this character and Death Knights so much that I spent lots of money going through faction and race changes. Now I’m settled on being an ironic Death Knight in 8.3. He is also one of my oldest toons on my account, being made back in MoP. So he’s worth it very much. If you love your old toon, feel free to spend money on it. It’s your call in the end.

This has been my main since Wrath when I created her. Zaela is my character and I still refuse to believe that there is an orc named such because it is MY name. Death to the heretic impostor!

Faction matters more to me but I do like my toons

Don’t do it. I still have my original Acitamos sitting on another server and he is now horde. However he has all the reputation for everything. Keep your toon around, by all means play another one but don’t delete the one your talking about.

This character isn’t my original, it’s a copy, of a copy, of a copy that’s been floating between servers for many years.

I like this character, been with her for over a decade. Not going to give her up easy.

I’ve gone through several cycles of completely deleting all of my existing characters on a single account and starting over from scratch (usually happens when taking a “break” from WoW inbetween expansions, you all know the cycle I’m talking about). It feels so much better to get a fresh start than to try and pick up the pieces of something I left off some time ago when their bags are full of very different things that just don’t matter anymore.

Thanks for the input!

I’m going to take advantage of the character services sale before it ends and switch servers+factions. In case I get nostalgic, I’ll just leave my old Alliance characters behind.

It’s the same character. All your achievements go with you. This character has been on 2 different servers. Been male, female, NElf, BElf, Worgan and Draenai. This is still the character I created in November 2004

My druid I’ve had since launch of Vanilla actually.
Well, technically, I have a mage that’s been around since beta but he’s been deleted and undeleted so many times, doesn’t count.

This guy is my main. He was boosted to 100 when WoD was released. I had a maxed troll Druid but was such a noob that I DIDNT know the barbershop was a thing, and I hated the other guys appearance so I changed it up and used my boost on bektokal here.

Edit: just checked achievements and I don’t even have WoD achievements. This guy was boosted at the start of legion, and I didn’t know barbershop was a thing. So if YOU felt like a noob, there ya go

I started a new acc at US realms and I Play since 7 Months with this char . Really happy with him . But I miss a lot my chars at EU … my main there is a Draenei Priest …

I would just transfer your Paladin as is to a higher population server, rather than faction change all together.

I love my main and I would just server change her. There are busy servers to move to.

We were thinking the same thing at the same time. <3

Extremely important. I’ve been this worgen since they were released in CATA and haven’t looked back since. I’ve got a wiki page dedicated to him and his story. As well as tons of commissioned art, my computer background, and even a customized figure of him from his pandaria days. I will be him until the end of this game.

Fairly important. I played him more hours than any other character and he hasn’t been my main since the end of Wrath. I’m just so burnt our on Druids. I also miss the old WoD bounce-running animation they got rid of and made me boring-run.

I won’t ever change him, as he is 15 years old. But I find posting on him useful because of all the ridiculous “street cred” that seems to follow the “did you not play during Vanilla?” doesn’t apply (I always carry my old pvp regalia and time-stamped pvp title).

Unless you’ve got A LOT of gold or unobtainable items just re-roll it’s really not worth it especially if you lack gear. It took Zai here 2 weeks to go from 20 to 400+ilvl (he’s in an RP mog so it’s not his true gear atm). edit: btw you don’t have to delete him unless you’re somehow hit your cap.
