How I'd love to see Blizzard do player housing

I’ve played around with Valheim now and then (especially after the more recent upgrades to it) and one of THE best features of the game is the player’s ability to build things. You don’t use pre-provided plants or prebuilt houses - you actually build anything the tools allow and its limited only by your imagination.

I’ve had so much fun just tinkering around, building structures, learning how to use the tools and the range of things you can make yourself is epic. If Blizzard put a system like this into the game it would provided unlimited hours of fun for players. All they would have to do is what Valheim has - let players learn how to collect the materials, how to make and use the tools and then give a selection of instanced locations across the game where you could build.

An example of how Valheim does it is here:

It would make me a very happy Gnome if they worked it this way.

With their pathetic excuse that Garrisons are housing, I’m not so sure I even want them to attempt it. Or at least not this team.

lmao , i don’t know what to say but don’t expect a lot for player-housing .

If Player-housing exist , it will be in the store for 20$ with no building mechanics etc

We are all Nomads we need No Housing…

I would love player housing, but I know Blizzard will do Garrisons 2.0.

All the garrisons=fail PH comments…when they create a poor raid or dungeon, is it assumed they can never create a decent raid or dungeon?

Yous all need to stop generalising. Bad things happen. Good things happen. One does not guarantee the other. Of course they could blow it. Equally, they could do it well. It is stupid to say to not do something because they made poor decisions on something that has zero in common with player housing.

I really, really like the housing system in SWTOR. Blizzard should steal it and make it better.

Valheim is a terrible game, though. If you enjoy the survival/crafting aspects of Valheim, please try a real survival game like Subnautica or The Long Dark or Planet Crafter or Empyrion, instead.

Valheim, just like No Man’s Sky, is a trash game that somehow managed to get a lot of attention.

Speaking of… I wonder what kind of “housing” that I would use.

Either a normal floating Necropolis…

… or a floating Necropolis infused with Gnomish Technology.

I doubt they could pull off something like Valheim has but I do think they could reproduce what Wildstar had, and I would gladly settle with that.

Its an extension of character customization and roleplay. No different from transmog tbh.

Player housing would do this game a great deal of good and reinforce the character’s ties to the world around them just by having a place to showcase their treasures and spoils from adventuring. It gives us actual story to build from and prevents us all from being faceless “champions” or “maw walkers” as we’ve become over the years.

I’d seriously love to see player housing in WoW but Blizzard has an uncanny ability to come up with awesome ideas/content/systems and then the filters that it has to pass through to be released ultimately end up ruining it.

  • How can we time gate it
  • How can we turn it into a grind to keep people busy
  • How can we tie it in with other content to force participation
  • How can we turn it into a gold sink to stimulate token sales

I could go on and on, but i feel like Blizzard pondering these types of questions ends up ruining (or at least tarnishing) pretty much everything they make.

subnautica has a great start and middle and a bad end game.

The prawn suit is a horrid mechanic.

With that said I tend to agree, I finally tried NMS this year and instantly switched it off after 4 hours of play and went back to subnautica for my survival itch.

You might want to try Empyrion.

I’ll have to get to that sometime, probably in a couple of months.

I already got my hands full juggling WoW and ER

Valheim did so many things right and I wish Blizzard would copy/paste the best parts.

  • Housing
  • Exploration

That’s the problem, too many great games, so little time.

I had to go cold turkey on Kerbal Space Program. It was, quite simply, consuming my entire life. :sob:
