How have your M+ been going as Resto?

Hi, see title. Just wondering what people’s general experience was with doing M+ as Resto yesterday, as I had a very mixed experience, just doing some M2s last night.

There were pulls in Necrotic Wake I was struggling to keep up with heals on the tank because he was getting absolutely shredded (namely miniboss before the bridge after 1st boss, and the Stitchwerks that give stacking armor debuff before the 3rd boss).

Single target healing strat is typically Cloudburst, Riptide, Unleash Life, then Healing Surge/Wave spam (earth shield on obviously). Seems kinda crazy that’s not enough to keep up with damage to a tank from trash in an M2?

I feel like most of the M+ are overtuned. Healers are working WAAAY harder than anyone else.

Castle seems the same so it’s a SL theme…

I was able to heal up to a +10 yesterday in elemental conduits / one trinket, and I’m not a healer by any means.

Nothing is really overtuned, this expansion is just a lot more gear-reliant.

It is all a gear issue.
It will get easier with gear.
It is expected as people learn the dungeons as well.

Most tanks are pulling way more than what they should.

Most dps are ignoring mechanics they should be avoiding.

Most dps arent allowing tanks to get aggro.

Most players are pushing content to get gear faster than they should.

Eh, myself and everyone else in the group was 179-183 ish item level. You’d think we’d be able to do M2s quite easily. Which in fairness, we were for the most part, except a few small screwups–I was just shocked that some trash was hitting so hard I was struggling to keep the tank alive.

I’m willing to wager that this is a ‘them’ issue, not a ‘you’ issue. That pack in particular is especially nasty if the dps aren’t interrupting and the tank isn’t moving out of bad. The casters apply a pretty strong healing absorb and those pools hurt. CC the casters or keep them locked down and that pull is significantly easier.

Yeah, we realized that the Necrotic Bolts were shredding us and were better about interrupting after a wipe and it went much better after that. I didn’t realize that they applied a healing absorb though, that definitely explains a lot.

Yep 90% of healer issues are because DPS aren’t interrupting or because they’re standing in frontals or something lol.

My group has done 10s and 11s pretty easily. We have an 11 sanguine we’re going into next which will probably be pretty rough, but we cleared a +10 theatre with 6 minutes left

There used to be an add on that would announce every time someone took avoidable damage.

Sooooo many raging DPS.

haha yeah thats funny. My other favorite thing to do is link overall kicks at the end of the dungeon. Kinda funny when I have 30+ and the dps have like 10 combined

Was cruising until we got to a +6 Necrotic Wake. Then I wanted to rethink my life choices.

A theme in Necrotic Wake, but also seemingly in most dungeons this xpac, is that the trash is harder than the bosses. Is this normal? I’m just coming back after not playing since Wrath. Don’t remember it being like this.

Its fortified week, so trash is 100% going to be harder. Just wait till next week when its Tyr and you’ll regret ever thinking bosses were too easy

But honestly M+ is all about knowing the mechanics. Every trash mob in game has a mechanic you need to know about. Necrotic wake isnt necessarily any harder, a lot of mobs just have a heal absorb cast or a channeled stun. Kick those and you’re cooling

I can not stress this enough.

So much damage going out right now is people not being as familiar with mechanics (compared to what we are more recently used to with the end of BFA).

As people become more aware of what/when to dodge/interupt/stun/etc. Things will smooth out.

Till then? Healers cover for the mistakes.

I’ve only done a single +2 because it was only fortifying so I figured I’d give it a shot. Wasn’t bad. I was at around 168-170 when I tried it. I think it’ll get better as people gear up and learn mechanics better. We were fortunate enough to have an unholy DK geared at around 185. For now we’re just being picky with random players on LFG.

I healed a +2 Necro yesterday and man was that place rough. I was 175ilvl so that was a factor of course but I had a solidly geared tank that was just getting shredded too. Necro did not feel good and I’m anxious to heal it on higher levels now.

That particular pull is rough because most people don’t know how to handle it. The easiest way is to just have a Kyrian in your group. There are 2 anima golems around the first boss including one right before that pull. Repairing them with the Kyrian Steward causes them to drop 5 1 minute bufss that will silence enemies around each player every 4 seconds.

If you coordinate with your group before hand (which you should) then it’s very simple to just clear to that pull, backtrack about 60 yards and grab the buff for everyone. Just make sure people stand in melee and that you don’t repair the golem until that pull.

There’s another golem on the right side of the first boss you can repair to get the buff for boss too. (I think it does damage or boosts damage in addition to silencing.)

Vesper Totem isn’t the best but the golem Kyrian bonus in Necrotic Wake is one of the few dungeon covenant perks that actually makes it significantly easier rather than just faster. Steward is just so much more useful than Fleshcraft too, since you can vendor and change talents every once in a while. If they buff Fleshcraft, I might have to reconsider going Necrolord on my Shaman.

Plaguefall feels like cancer without being able to dispel diseases.

Yep, did a +4 or 5 yesterday (not as my shammy, tank DK) and we had people die after pull because of the diseases with a Shaman healer. Honestly, if they would just drop out of combat and people actually avoid damage, I think they would be okay. As people learn fights and what to interrupt, I think it will be better.

Do find it weird though that they stripped Shaman down to just magic and curses though. I guess everyone has lost something from vanilla though and it’s not like Resto isn’t compensated by retaining Purge and Wind Shear.

thats not on the shaman though? I just two chested a +10 plaguefall and wasn’t worried about a single disease in there
