If you aren’t Honored with the Nightmare Incursion people you might as well just quit the game if you PVP.
Why? That gear is worse than the PVP set from Honor.
Shadow is one of the lowest dps specs and has 0 burst.

Was 1100+ damage, with 600+ overkill chimera crit in Arathi Basin.
I got a 3.2k in wsg the other day and the guy just sat in his corpse for a solid minute. At level 60, you’re going to be seeing like 5-6k starfire crits pretty often.
DoTs are strong in vanilla and it’s supposed to be that way, since they’re fully counterable via dispels. These must be retailers complaining, since DoTs over there do zero damage.
Every class is busted in some way in PvP.

The problem is boomies require both sunfire and starfire to equal one vp tick and locks have to put up immolate, corruption and curse of agony to get one vp tick. We’ll just have to hope aggrend and his team know what they’re doing at lvl 60.
because of vampiric embrace and they are the only magic dispell for horde. not because of their damage.
also homunculus and eye apply virtually every raid debuff, makes them a useful slot

Boomies have a different damage profile with hard-casted spells, and their DoTs also do instant damage on application.
Balance DoTs have always been the weakest of all DoT users throughout the game’s history. This is not a good comparison.
Even just looking in Era with no runes, Warlocks have weaker DoTs than Shadow does because they have Shadow Bolt, which in end-game does a lot of damage and crits for double. Meanwhile, Mind Flay does mediocre damage and Mind Blast is just bad, even when it crits.
Even in era where there are no runes, Corruption does not compare to SW:Pain on a tick-by-tick basis. Warlocks still scale much better than Spriests do.
But that’s not true. UA with Haunt is par with VP. 778*1.2= 945 vs. 1074.
Warlock can also use Demonic Embrace and Synergy to not only further juice UA, but all their other spells as well (use your snapshots well). That’s not counting passive talent options, assuming competitive analysis results in similar value.

Yes, UA, Haunt, and VP are all rune abilities. But as for baseline, Warlock DoTs (Corruption, Agony, Immolate) are all weaker than Shadow’s DoT (SW: Pain), because Warlocks have multiple DoTs as well as a different damage profile where Shadow Bolt makes up the most of their baseline damage.
Here in SoD with runes, and the recent hotfixes, Warlock dots have a lot more potential. But your original post was comparing Corruption and Agony (baseline era abilities) to VP (rune ability), and that’s not a good comparison because it leaves out the important context I described.
