How has plunderstorm effected wows lore?

I know there’s a plunderstorm section, but this is the effect on wows lore I’m asking about

Does plunderstorm actually exist? We know the pirates and their crew does based on actually seeing them in Valdrakken

But how do they know who I am? I’ve only ever worked with them as some nameless random person who changes constantly

Are we actually just regularly butchering the alliance and horde in Arathi? Is it all just something conjured by some magic for us to have fun? Are one of the requirements to just get so hammered we’re just imagining that’s what we’re doing and in reality our characters are just flailing and flopping around in a field somewhere collecting grass and the pirates find it so funny they just give us prizes?

We (I) need answers!

There is none. It’s just a game mode.

But the pirates exist! Why are they just giving us random stuff and saying we have a specific reputation with them!

It goes deeper

I’d say it doesn’t massively effect anything. Just scoundrels making a nuisance of themselves.
Even say it’s an alternate reality or something.

Cooked up N’zoth fever dream

There’s also a Lore forum, btw.

Nuisance is pretty light for regularly wiping out entire alliance and horde bases

You think they’d be hunted down!

And alternate realities would imply bronze dragons are involved!

Yea but that’s all RPers

Well there you have it, Captain Keg-Leg is secretly a Bronze Dragon (or Infinite) just enjoying themselves.

In the announcement discussion thing they briefly mentioned something about how this was a change of pace as it showed what normal people in azeroth do. It was really short and i probably butchered it but yeah.

Maybe like, the plunderstorm is a real thing. But some big event. Us doing it over and over is more of a gameplay conceit.

See yea I could buy into the multiple rounds are just for gameplay, such as redoing raids and dungeons

But it’s still odd cuz how do they know who we are then cuz my pirate is a dwarf and I am not, plus they’d be hunted by horde and alliance instead of just hanging around Valdrakken now

Trust me, you don’t wanna go there. lol

Hmm idk if u know hunger games, its basically a teen drama battle royale, but the competitors in that story have sponsors who help train and buy advantages for them. We could be like that for our pirates.

As for the alliance/horde passivity :dracthyr_shrug:

Maybe keg leg is more powerful than we think xd

The biggest takeaway is all pirates can double jump.

Wouldn’t that imply Stromgarde and the Frostwolves were destroyed by the storm? :robot::sweat_drops:

I feel a Sargeras firestorm would’ve been more suitable than a thunderstorm…

edit: why does the storm affect you indoors?

pro-gamer move would’ve been to converge on keep and only hurt outdoors. (and wooden structures that are not the keep)

It’s channeling a nightmare Sylvanas is having in the Maw.

I wouldn’t say “Plunderstorm isn’t canon”, but it has essentially no plot, so it doesn’t affect lore in the slightest.

All the information we get from it is “pirates exist and they raid places”, which is stuff we already knew.

Not the first infinite pirate we’ve seen, either.

The Arathi highlands DO have a pirate hideout so there is some lore already.
