The lawyers probably were just unaware of it, well at least until now.

How long does it take for a lawsuit to go through?
I’m not a lawyer nor do I play one on T.V  So I’m unaware of such things.

No, a better question: How long does it take to do the research (is there research?) and generate the paperwork required to put a lawsuit in motion?

There is a rumor that the original Warcraft game was an attempt by Blizzard to get a lucrative Warhammer gaming license. According to the rumor they were told to desist development. Instead they just tweaked it a little and released Warcraft anyway. And here we are today.

Patrick Wyatt, the Producer on Warcraft, explains in a lengthy “making of” feature that some at Blizzard had wanted to make a Warhammer game, but things just didn’t work out.

“[Blizzard co-founder] Allen Adham hoped to obtain a license to the Warhammer universe to try to increase sales by brand recognition”, Wyatt says. “Warhammer was a huge inspiration for the art-style of Warcraft, but a combination of factors, including a lack of traction on business terms and a fervent desire on the part of virtually everyone else on the development team (myself included) to control our own universe nixed any potential for a deal. We had already had terrible experiences working with DC Comics on “Death and Return of Superman” and “Justice League Task Force”, and wanted no similar issues for our new game.”

No rumor

yeah but orcs and elves n stuff are public domain, its easy to tweak stuff and say “our orcs are different” but something like this is just a repainted arena. its like grabbing a swiffer, changing the decals and calling it a swifty lol.

Depends entirely upon the plaintiff/defendant involved in the case as well as amount of money involved on both sides.

Thanks for advertising for them

Also: what exactly is there to sue?

Blizz invented the idea of people all PVPing in one large area?

I used to do that in a game called Unreal.

If Law and Order has taught me anything, about 20 minutes.

Just wait until you hear where the idea of heroes of the storm came from, OP. Blizzard are no stranger to ripping ideas.

OP…even they copy…their game will far superior than blizzards

heroes of the storm? you mean that IP that was created using their IP? either way, heroes is distinct from dota as dota is distinct from LoL. some cross over may occur, but the maps are different, the timing of gameplay is different, the progression of your character is different.
the ring of titans thing is literally just applying a graphic reskin to arena and forcing everyone to use pvp starter gear. its like taking a gaggle of aftermarket porsches with performance mods, restoring them all to base, and repainting them and putting a decal that says RUF or something on them, and saying “its totally different from porsche” haha. this is gonna be interesting to see how this situation develops. I foresee skins in a cash shop on the other game, in the future.

And Blizzard has never done anything like that… Azem… (excuse me, had to sneeze)

Frivolous lawsuits?

Are we trying to make Blizzard even more like Games Workshop? That’s kind of the next step.

Nope, they used to have a MUD game that did this same thing back in 1998 or so year. It was extremely popular due to being considered an upgrade from mortal combat. Wow, arnea is nothing like that game. It used to congest phone lines.

At least I don’t need glue and paint when I buy something from Blizzard.

The glue and paint are the best parts!
