I mean kinda? It’s not most of the challenge or even a large part of the challenge.
It’s just kinda assumed that when you get to even the low/mid levels of Mythic Raiding you’ve got that on lock. It’s just one ball you gotta juggle.
We killed Sprocket tonight and a far bigger part of our kill wasn’t me maximizing DPS, it was having good positioning to set up gateways before we needed them and STILL manage to not get myself killed since I was forced wildly out of position (compared to the rest of the raid) in a fight that demanded near mechanical positioning.
Knowing my rotation wasn’t even a fraction of a fraction of the difficulty on that fight.
I can’t either but that will be because they implement guardrails that make sure it isn’t optimal. Which is why they are coming out of the gate with a .2s GCD penalty and will either scale down or up from there depending upon how it shakes out.
But people expecting it to come without guardrails that ensure it doesn’t become the objectively best way to play are delusional.
So far, even with the GCD it is pulling middle of the pack DPS for all I have seen, and that isn’t bad. A good floor for people to enter in, and also get better from when they learn. Kinda like how it should be. Without the penalty, it wouldn’t go up much, and like I have said on here before…those that need it are set on those rails damage wise. Anyone not disabled, or lets say for argument being lazy, will blow past it without people using the assistance being geared to the teeth or over gearing…and there is a ceiling to that as well.
honestly…personally, I dont care what direction they take it. I wont be using it. I love my macros too much to use it…and its so limited anyway. Its basically a fancy castsequence with a reset that you have no control over whats firing off and when.
I cant deal with that.
If they want to make it competitive, It doesnt affect me. Even if they remove weakauras as they seem to be going to do sooner or later, it doesnt bother me if I decide to try M+ out if someone else is using it…why? because its optional…I can use it too if I want, so Im not at a disadvantage.
I dont care either way, but I kinda do understand why some do given all the work theyve put into learning their spec, feeling like this demeans that effort.
BUT THEN…THEY ALSO are ‘cheating’ by using weakauras to help them play the game easier (and please no one waste my damned time with that “it doesnt play the game for you”…no one said it does)…so theyre not in any position to complain if there is a feature or addon for assisting other players in other ways.
I am thrilled to know it will help more people get into the game, do content they would otherwise not be able to do, or just let them lazily do stuff. More people playing the game is always better. If it doesn’t impact me, even better.
It could theoretically come pretty close to the best players in patchwerk, but fall apart as soon as there’s mechanics, add phases, downtime, or vulnerability phases.
100% agree. There is no point where more people playing is a bad thing. The chances of anyone being in anyones random group for example, is just as likely for someone skilled, and if they are guaranteed to do a baseline throughput then it is easier to also gauge success.
LOL you can gaslight and call people whatever derogatory term you want, I don’t care. You are just showing you don’t have an actual argument to make. No, a one button rotation should not be even remotely in the realm of competitive to a person playing normally.
Making the one button rotation good enough for people with issues able to do quests, complete normal/heroic dungeons, and be good enough in LFR to not get kicked is enough to allow them to experience all the story content and finish a minimum level of activities in the game.
It shouldn’t allow folks either too lazy or too uninterested in learning their rotation to be competitive in any content higher than that.
and imagine NOT having someone kicked over horrible DPS in dungeons.
With this tool, if theyre unable to get good DPS otherwise, this fixes that problem.
It’s turning into another arachnophobia filter situation with people holding up babies that are scared of spiders like “Why do you hate these babies?!?!”
what about people who dont want to face mechanics alone and use cheats like weakauras for help?
They get a free pass?
If youre trashing someone over needing helps with their rotation…maybe look in the mirror when most of high end gamers ARENT playing a bare boned game…theyre using weakauras and other addons to HELP them play the game.
I mean, the nature of rotational gameplay in WoW automatically achieves this just in terms of basic gameplay. Add to that nuance from usage of utility, mobility, etc., and it’s very obvious that the intent from the beginning is for this to be a rotation helper, but it can’t make executive decisions for you that are more than straight conditionals.
I don’t see a problem with it, even if it had no delay.
This would be a larger issue in a game like FFXIV where the gameplay is basically strictly conditional on almost every class that isn’t a healer, and the healers are stupidly easy in most content in that game anyways.
I love that you brought in a real life competition example. I’ve been wanting to do so since the beginning, but had a feeling you would play the “it’s a game, not real life card”. However, since you opened the door…
Using your racing analogy, wet conditions are often described as the great equalizer where driver skill matters far more than whether or not you have the fastest car. You absolutely could develop a technology system that allows the car to collect data on the track conditions, monitors tire grip, and allows you to remove all driver skill expression from the car. Have you ever seen a sim race or e racing? It’s already figured out…
Using another example. What if someone lost their arm and wants to play baseball? I’m all for them having a prosthetic that allows them to play with their friends. I’m less enthusiastic about giving them the auto-pitcher 9000 that would let them throw at 300mph to mm perfect placement.
Actually you didn’t say that. You just said you had more experience without proof, then were pointed out by people who aren’t me saying, no dude mechanics are the biggest part. Rotation is a given at the point of high end raid…kinda like I said.
