How good would a 0.0 second GCD Single-Button Rotation delay be?

The answer is quite obvious and I’m sure you could have come to it had you given the question more than 2 seconds of thought. Ready for it?

Because there is no reason someone pressing one button that automates a rotation should do equal damage as someone making the correct decision for each button they press for an encounter.

This feature should be about making the game accessible, but that doesn’t mean it should immediately make you a top 10% player. It should do enough to allow you to play the game at a functional level.

A sane person would say this is hyperbolic because this affects real combat and thats a core of the game that players work very hard to get good at…BUT…that sane person would then also remember that these same folks lost their damned minds over the request that a few hours that remain for pathfinder to get steady flight be removed…that doesnt affect SQUAT in this game…and so said sane person has to find themselves in agreement with your assessment, that this forum will screech and howl and gnash their teeth just to prove its own existence, rather than doing so from anything that might actually matter.

totally agree.

now see, I was willing to listen to your POV, then you had to get all hyperbolic and show us that you dont know how the one key works…NOTHING is automated.
ONE key press, ONE action. its not automated any more than in game castsequence macros are. The only difference I saw in it was it allows spells with CDs to be used too. That was it.

GSE does that currently. Basically the sequence is loaded, you keep pressing the button, and if for example you use judgement on ret paladin out of order, it will just go on to the next ability in the sequence.

Why? Most people us stuff like this because they have physical reasons they can’t use the buttons like a normal person. Considering this is a game and not real life, and the technology exists why shouldn’t people with those disabilities be able to compensate with aforementioned technology and be just as effective as someone else? The sequence isn’t AI. It won’t tell them us this ability because it will do more damage due to blah blah. It just knows to do what it is told. It is just front loading and in the end there will be a lot of times you aren’t playing optimally with it because of that.

Oh, so its nice that someone able bodied can tell someone that isn’t something should be enough. I love when they do that. “Be happy with what you have been given don’t ask for better” because that isn’t the antithesis of not only being a human but gaming in general. Tell you what, how does this sound? Let people with disabilities handle what they feel is enough. You want to improve? You have ways to do that. You can practice, you can learn the rotation better, etc. The people that have to use this? Can’t. So, we have to constantly request better sequences or stuff to be able to perform better, which is something all gamers want to do. Regardless of capability.

Also, don’t try the “well lazy people can use it” BS. Know why? Who cares. In the end EVERYONE will win because more damage is a good thing. It doesn’t matter if a 100 lazy people get advantage from it if 1 disabled person does, to paraphrase and adapt what Benjamin Franklin said.

All you want to do, is gatekeep. You don’t feel they earned it.

Depends if it can spell clip or it has to queue individual actions

Physical dexterity requirements in order to perform in gaming are a disappointing limitation of the human body and current technology. But wanting mental dexterity lowered under the guise of disability is a pretty low bar to stoop under.

WoW combat isn’t just about being fast enough to push buttons, it’s about being able to think through which ones you’re supposed to push. And automation tools, while they help with the dexterity issue, also vastly reduce the amount of thinking you need to do.

You are so close to getting what I said but right at the end took the wrong turn.

that is the whole point of why the one button won’t be ideal compared to actually being able to be wholly able to play. Thatis why it shouldn’t matter. Those that are stuck using the one button play system will always be limited by that.

…and? So? The only ones that care are either the sweaty try hards that want things to remain hard to gatekeep people from their content, or the “purists” that don’t want anyone they think don’t deserve it from doing content. Neither are a good person to be.

Frankly I won’t be surprised if the final implementation is quite barebones in that it will only do your rotation and not use any CDs - neither offensive nor defensive CDs.

That is what it does now. Which is fine.

and this is why Im conflicted.
If a handicapped person can be given the tools to drive a car like anyone else, shouldnt they be given it?
If they then wanted to race cars and the tech was there to allow for it, shouldnt they be allowed to?
Should NASCAR…which is like a video game…totally meaningless in the grand scheme of things…be allowed to tell the handicapped person that they arent allowed to race if the tech can help them race as good as the next driver?

I want to say its then not fair to the player who puts in the hard work here in the game to get better…but then I remember MOST of these ‘good’ players are using ‘cheats’ like weakaura and GSE and other addons to ASSIST THEM in playing the game so ARE they actually that good anyway? And why do THEY get to use the assists and not the handicapped player?

personally I dont know what the answer is on this one.

To me, the best answer is letting people play how they want to. If there is a “best way” to play, let someone make that choice to do it. No one will be forced to do something. A group telling someone to play with the one button? Nah, you don’t have to it. There are other groups. Guilds telling people they won’t allow it? Tons of guilds out there. The strawman argument of “well if the one button is proven better it will mean everyone has to play it” is bunk because we all know sequences have limitations, and it will never choose the right one at all the right times. That…and so? There will always be people that don’t want to use it. There are people right now that think Addons are bad and don’t use them. They have a choice. Choice is king, and everyone should have the choice to be able to play how they want and there be no penalty.

lol…I would prefer it not use my CDS if its gonna blow them as finishers like it did with beastmaster lol.
It cast Bestial Wrath to hit the target for the last few hits it had…which isnt a big deal for casual play I spose. I had a couple other spells that were sitting there that Id personally have used instead of blowing a CD in that situation. but it is ‘one key’ so no control over what its doing next.

I think disabled/handicapped/ arthritic players and otherwise will get good use of One Key…but outside of that I dont see players who want to get better at the game using it for very long …Maybe healers might fire it up between heals…

It doesn’t use your cds, but some specs can be built optimally in such a way as to not have cds, and it’s not that hard to just add a button with all your cds and press it when you want them. It still does a huge amount of the heavy lifting in terms of actually working out what order to push your buttons in.

Very possible, and likely to end this way (especially based on what people are saying for it currently). It’ll make it a lot more usable. It still could technically bork you a bit, such as dumping resources ahead of an important part or something. Obviously that’s far less impactful than popping all your big CDs though.

I expected there to be a few exceptions (like Bloodlust) at the very least, but it’s probably for the best it’s not going to use any major CDs.

lmao…it doesnt use your CDs…it sure fired off my Bestial Wrath with a 1.5 minute CD lol

Bestial wrath sitting right there in the thing ready to fire off.

The decision making is automated which is my entire point. I wasnt suggesting that you press one button and then afk. I’m very much aware that it’s one spell per button push.

Because in doing so you invalidate the skill expression of others.

Yes, I can because at some point you need to realize that no one is 100% the same. Besides, we know you’re not being genuine in your search for the moral high ground because this isnt even a disagreement about the accessibility feature being added. You’re complaining that it has limitations from performing at theoretical maximum output levels.

you’ll have to forgive me if Im having a hard time with buying this.

for more context…

your comment wasnt about decision making being automated…lol…it was about the feature itself. Clearly.

I saw someone testing the Warlock one on PTR, apparently it doesn’t want to cast Demo’s major 1 minute cooldown that’s vital for the rotation… so even including the .2 penalty, it’s worthless for now.

agreed.
I ran Demo with it and its kinda bad. lol. Hopefully its getting it worked out before it goes live.

Giving them any ability to play mid dps chart is a win.
I don’t think Timmy one finger should be topping the list, do you?
