Is Unholy better than Frost for questing?
No. Unholy’s damage is a slowish ramp up with DoTs. Frost runs in, procs a KM and deletes the mob with an Obliterate.
Oh and dont listen to the troll below me. No clue what it said since I have it on ignore, but you’ll do yourself well to ignore it.

For questing, they’re pretty even honestly. Just pick whichever playstyle you like more. No need to min max questing, just have fun.

When I tried to do Awaken the Machine as 2H Frost on my 650 DK (I usually play Blood so I didn’t have 1Hs), I felt like I hit like wet noodle without PoF. Would it be better if I invested in 1Hs?
This is just Frost DK. Unholy experiences the same thing, except imagine that your PoF is separated into four different-but-consecutive gcds.

They’re about the same.
If you’re just doing world content you can comfortably play either one.

I lately been playing FDK little more due their recent buffs since unholy gotten boring, and I have to say 1Handers is pretty much best for Oblit build in Rider especially when you can stack easier with RI to spam frost strike. It may not be top spec like unholy, I am having fun with it

Theres really nothing you can do about that. DW is more consistent but overall damage between DW and 2H is pretty minimal at the moment. As is Riders vs Deathbringer for Obliteration. At least for ST anyway.
Riders works better for AoE in my experience, especially 2H. A handful of back to back triple target KM Oblits do some DAMAGE. DB can do better but its entirely dependent on Reaper’s Mark and Exterminate procs in addition to Runic Empowerment. So super RNGs
Honestly for open world content though it literally doesn’t matter. Nothing is going to live long enough for you to see any significant difference beyond the RNG aspects.

No. Just go unholy. Frost is reliant on crit chance and while leveling your crit chance will rise when you get certain gear, and then fall when you raise in level. Unholy isnt reliant on crit to get its damage out and you dont have to put up your disease and apply festering wounds because these things do the least amount of damage.
Frost is a bad leveling spec, if its for questing and you are hitting so low, then you dont have any stats to make use of the spec.
I’m talking about world quests and the weeklies like Awaken the Machine, not levelling. Sorry for the confusion.
Its still dependant on your stats. If you have low crit Frost is going to be pretty bad, especially with a 2h. DW Frost can do a dual RI setup for questing and have more Shattered Frost Strikes.
Unholy doesnt have this. Sudden Doom gives DC a crit, you dont have to put up Virulent Plague or Festering wounds and still do pretty good damage with Clawing Shadows and Death Coil. Its a much better questing / leveling spec unless you have a good amount of crit.
Ultimately it comes down to what you enjoy, but Unholy is much more steady.
