How good is ret paladin support capabilities?

I have a disc priest and I want to start a new character that plays a role of supportive dps, rather than an agressive healer. And I thought about ret paladins. Are their supportive skills relevant in a 2v2 or 3v3 context? Can they heal an ally if needed? Are the blessings of sacrifice and protection impactful in pvp? Are there other melee specs that could play this role?

Thanks in advance!

For pvp rets actually not terrible. You cant use loh etc but with the right team were not bad, nothing special either.

Imagin if every useful thing you could do could be countered with dispel.

That is ret. Defensive, utility, control, all flicked away with any purge or cleans ability.

Only in 3v3 they’re okay (with some stuff being dispellable anyway). Any other context, absolutely underwhelming.

In PvP relatively so, yes.

Yes, it costs you a lot of damage but WoG heals a decent amount.

Forgive me if I’m wrong but I believe both can actually be dispelled which is a big hit. This is 100% the case for BoP, however I’m not 100% on BoSac it might not be dispellable.
I’ll need someone to fact check that for me.

Bear in mind though that for DF Ret has almost everything that works for it in PvP nerfed, damage is shifted away from the burst of TV/FV, mobility is worse, heavy focus on Consecration which is immobile etc.

I just played about 30 games of double DPS today in 2s. 90% of my time was healing or casting blessings. There are better supportive classes out there.
