Is it S tier? A tier? Is it the best since Legion? Is it total doodoo? Garbage ew stinky poo nah nah throw it in the bin? Forgettable? Just… average?
What do you think? Where does Castle Nathria rank in the tierlist of raids in WoW?
I just finished doing the whole thing on normal today with my guild and I have to say I had an absolute blast.
Xymoz, Kael, and Council, Sludgefist are some of the most fun I’ve ever had in raids before. Lots of laughs, lots of pogs, lots of amazing voice lines, lots of chaos. Loved it.
For me it’s one of the best there is.

I should probably clear the rest of the raid, I kind of forgot about it lol.

I haven’t tried it before. I’m sure it’s fun if you’re into pve. But the game isn’t like BFA where you are forced to pve for gear in order to do pvp. Thanks to the return of pvp vendors. So with that said I’ve had no reason to try the raid
I like the dance boss the rest are alright. I didnt like having 2 bosses in the same room with the pillars. Seems like a lazy effort there.

It’s a solid raid. It’s no Dazar’alor but it’s no Emerald Nightmare either. It’s got a solid difficulty curve, it isn’t strictly linear but it’s a really bad offender for having a bunch of fights where you spend a decent amount of time sitting on your hands.
I’d rank it roughly the same as Nighthold, maybe a little bit lower
B to a C.
And it has nothing to do with the fact that I can’t dance.
I think it was B+ or an A-
Very aestheticly pleasing, sexy armor (plague doctors are my weakness), big bat.
Sludgefist was really unfun, but thankfully the guild I did it with only brought 2 melee to cheese the chains.

What does “s tier” mean exactly?

S-tier would basically mean perfect/amazing.
I only raid if there’s a transmog that I specifically need, Nathria transmogs looked OK, but not for anything I’d want to use. So, mediocre I guess. If the next raid has transmogs that I like, then it will be better.

The dance boss was unique… The rest were terrible. Mechanics on top of mechanics, with more mechanics thrown in just to make it aggravating. Nathria is a D- for me…
S Tier is basically the highest ranking in most peoples scales.
Like if I were to rate Legion, BFA and Shadowlands raids, my rating would look something like:
S Tier - Battle of Dazar’alor
A Tier - Antorus, Tomb of Sargeras, Nighthold.
B Tier - Castle Nathria, Uldir, Eternal Palace, Ny’alotha
C Tier - Trial of Valor
D Tier - Emerald Nightmare, Crucible of Storms.
I’m old so I don’t really get it. Where does it come from?

Tierlists are most common in games with a ton of characters like MOBAS or Fighting Games, they’ll usually be an opinion for how strong, weak, game breaking, etc they are.
Something I’ve never actually thought about, it’s just been a universal rating scale.
But on googling it, apparently it originates from Japanese games, because in Japan the lowest acceptable grade was a “C”, so it was implemented to give a wider variance on rankings to performances and items.
Like in Devil May Cry, you can actually go above an S grade with SS and SSS rankings.
If you think of it in school grades, it’s basically an A++.

It’s below WoD raids for me.
I would say D.

They actually did a great job on this raid. I enjoy all the fights when done with a proper group.

Dazar was S tier for you? It was fun, but the plot armor bosses kind of ruined everything.

I tried for a bit. 2 months, and not a single drop of the armor. Got the same ring 3 times, though. I like the transmog well enough, but it’s not even worth it to try to farm for it with low drop rates, and no bonus rolls.
I heard they might be bringing back bonus rolls.
