Will i have trouble pugging raids and mythic+ with an arms warrior? I know shadowpriest is at the top of the dps ladder but how good is an arms warrior for raiding and mythic+ in shadowlands?
If youâre currently gauging the shadowpriest status of being top of the DPS ladder right now, during prepatch, I would say to ignore those charts.
Once Shadowlands is released and azerite/heart of essence are removed, and conduits and covenants are enabled and in place. You will find that those DPS ladders are going to be completely different.
Play Arms and wait about a month or more before you ask whether or not it is going to be good in Raids and Mythic+. You will get much better results as there will be more accurate testing and SIMS.
Idk why people ask these questions.
You need to ask one question.
Is playing arms warrior fun for me?
If yes, play arms, if not pick the class/spec that when you ask that same question you answer yes.
Who knows.
There is no one that can accurately answer this question.
Play what you enjoy like reapers said
Put it this way
I donât remember the last time a spec wasnât viable, especially for pugs.
People ask these questions because they have options to play multiple classes for SL and havent been following the meta and just dont want to figure out after a month that their class is dumpster tier and they have to do it all again with another class less they have to beg for spots in endgame content.
Whether they actually would be excluded or need to beg is irrelevant.
Also this is good conversation pre launch of a new expac. See how the class changes are shaking up the old hierarchy. I dont see why some are so resistant to cater this conversation.
What people really should be exlaining is that that numbers people are seeing now on famous DPS rank websites include a lot of gear and systems that will be sunset today, we dont really know how SL mechanics with gear and power will play out, we are still waiting for that one kid to cheese an ignored covenant faction and have it be broken OP, we dont know how some mechanics will be broken and fixed later which might equal a major DPS nerfâŚect
For me, i focused on DK and DH towards the end of BFAâŚSO based on initial discussion i might be wanting to level a traditional class, as excited as i was for frost and 2h, which i was hoping would be a slower frost rotation with chunkier, meatier, DPS chunks disappearing from my targetâŚmight not end up that way.
So im interested in possibly taking something i traditionally ignore to clear SL content, just as everything settles.
Its not going to be until after the first major balance patch that we really see whos on topâŚHowever many people would really enjoy picking that one broken class before its nerfed to the ground, another reason people ask this stuff.
I will say im dissapointed to see how half assed the 2h aspect of frost appears to be, as if they expected it to not effect anything with Frost and let it be and option without tuning the gameplay.
Itâs just a rather irrelevant question. Nothing is set in stone yet, things are still going to be moving around weeks after launch. You might find yourself in the position where you level something that looks good going into the xpac and then they nerf the piss out of it once the raid launches. Then youâre back at square 1 again.
Not only that but like I said earlier, itâs wildly uncommon that a spec is just totally unplayable and doesnât see any play at all end game. Especially if youâre not like a world first guild or something.
You are literally just best off playing what you enjoy the most because chances are, even if your chosen class turns out to be a turd in the end game, itâll still see use, and wonât be âinviableâ because that doesnât exist in the modern version of this game. Nothing is that bad where it wonât be played at all or have a spot in a raid or group.
No one has, there isnât a meta right now.
Iâll let you answer most of that first.
You fielded that pretty expertly.
Until the raid is live and M+ season underway, we simply donât know anything, especially not for long term casual decision making like whoâs going to have trouble pugging and whoâs not. Even world first people donât have the answers - they all maintain enough top tier alts that they know theyâre safe.
Even at that who cares, really the only people who get upset over balance only care the class theyve progressed the most with isnt the OP broken top preformer and it hurts their ability to pug M+. Really whats that, 3% of the population?
Reality is people dont want some fantasy situation where their casual guild refuses to let them do their normal mode raid because they dont need more than one of said class, which is never the issue with broken DPS classes but sometimes for underpreforming support.
No one is going to know anything until after that first balance patch curb stomps whatever broken classes exist in SL, which imo might be related to some classes losing their broken azurite traits and corruption gear, turning them from OP to underpreforming maybe.
Thatâs not the case. I donât understand what your issue is. You say you enjoy both, but you didnât play one because you didnât enjoy it?
So perhaps you should try both, and determine if you enjoy them or not? You do not make sense.
Well, youâre just gonna have to go based on your best judgment because relying on anyone elseâs info is just reaching. Really your guess is as good as theirs.
At least you have it narrowed down to a 50/50. I know some folks who still donât know what they want to roll for SLands. My buddy is still stuck between priest, paladin, monk, mage, and hunter.
Told him to just print out pictures of the five classes heâs considering, tape them to a board, put on a blindfold, and throw a dart at it and roll whatever he hits.
Itâs like that old psychology trick with flipping a coin. You may think to be indifferent on the choices, but for that half second the coin is in the air, you truly figure out what you really want.
thought this was a post I posted in a different forum, but clicked on the wrong tab.
I retracted my response. Was a mistake.
context was I mentioned I like both SV and Arms equally, and was looking for insight into how they were shaping up comparatively in arenas on slands. So the response of âplay what you enjoyâ was unhelpful in the context of the post I thought I was responding to.
Edit - as clarification, my post specifically mentioned how I loved previous iterations of warr, but hated pvp on warr in BFA because it just felt bad in comparison to old warrior. Slands warrior looks to be bringing back tools that i used to love, so it possibly changes my dissatisfaction with BFA warrior. Which, if that is the case, would put it back to where I enjoyed both specs equally - so it does make sense.
Historically warriors are garbage at the start of an expansion. They scale with gear and you have bad gear. âBut maybe this time blizzard will take that into account and balance our damage with that in mind.â ahahhahahahahhahahahhahha ahem ya play what you like. Also I have heard nothing good said about playing melee this raid tier it seems to be designed to punish them at every turn. Of course these are all just casual observations of a normie, which means it is a law set in stone for pubs.
Historically as in ancient history. Hasnât been true since 2010. Please know before you post.
Thatâs not a thing. Like, really, really not a thing.
Last two out of 3 expansions they were bottom or close to the bottom. Iâll take my chances with history.
Oh my please donât think I care how you play or make your own personal playstyle decisions. Kill a chicken and read its entrails if thats what you prefer. Just donât give out objectively wrong information to people who come here for help.
Where are your objective sources sir? So far all I am seeing is a whole lot of nothing. But keep telling the guy that everything is going to be rosy and pugs wonât care and will invite the historically slow starting melee to their m+ runs.
Seems to me I am the one who cares about the guy and doesnât want to give him false expectations that everything will be alright if you just believe in yourself. This game isnât a shonen battle manga. Public perception is everything for pugging and the public perception of dps warriors at the start of expansions is lower than dirt.
So, youâre trying to claim some moral high ground by pretending you care about the guy asking the question but really you just came in here being a snob, providing 0 factual info while making false claims, and are now just arguing for the sake of arguing, asking for evidence of Aedanâs claims while still providing nothing to support your own.
What a guy.
