Shaman is too squishy for my taste and i am tired of crying for help in general chat and finding out that i am the only one from my faction in the zone. While i was in Stormwind i saw a Balance Druid and inspected to see what kind of talent they have. Imagine my surprise when i saw this [Restoration Affinity] in there. As far as i know you can get this while in Feral, Balance and Guardian spec which make me question how useful it is and if it help soloing those annoying 3-5 group quest i keep getting in Outland. yes you read this right i don’t want to ask around to tackle 5 man quest, i want to do them alone because there are nobody on hand to help.
Druids are still squishy but can solo all 3-5 man quests as I did it as balance. Resto affinity is the go to for most specs as you can use heals while in moonkin form
I mean Druid has a tank spec, Shaman does not. When in doubt, most tank specs can solo most group quests/WQ’s

Druids are great for solo content. Guardian and Resto Affinity make you pretty tanky and if it’s really difficult you can just swap to guardian spec for an easier time.
I can solo Tol Dagor pretty easily on this character in Guardian spec (I just did it for my jewelcrafting quest I dont know if I can do other places or higher difficulties) and I’ve never run into a quest or world quest I couldn’t solo outside of world bosses.

Then i suppose i better learn how to tank in this game then (i did some tanking in FFXIV) because the dps queue for Outland dungeon is horrible (took at least 1 hour) and i am really bad at healing.
Tanking as a guardian druid is fairly simple.
Icy-veins has a comprehensive guide on how to play guardian druid so I would start with there.

druid is a pretty fun class. are you thinking going worgen or nelf? i doubt you have kt open yet, and i’m assuming you’ll stay alliance. lol.

i always been alliance except that 1 month when i made a horde mage for fun and to experience Tirisfal Glade. I might want to continue and do Silverpine and Hillbrad for the funny quest (johnny Awesome)

it’s really too bad you can’t be a dwarf druid. 
I’d recommend Worgen Druid if you haven’t unlocked Kul Tirans. Darkflight gives you another mobility CD which is just so useful
they also look a lot cooler. i keep deleting this level 70ish nelf i have every few months because he looks… ridiculous.
I would actually recommend night elf. Their racials were like hand crafted for druids.
Shadowmeld allows you to turn invisible and drop combat, which is amazing for feral druids because it allows you to restealth similar to a rogues Vanish.
It’s also great for solo content because if things go south it gives you an easy out without dying.
On top of that you get increased movement speed while stealthed with their other racial, and they also get a crit and haste bonus (one or the other depending on time of day) which are both strong stats for every druid spec.

My druids always switch from balance to guardian at level 60. Queues only wait on healers for you.
You can, it just requires the closure of your eyes and some imagination while playing the game.
I just switch over to a hunter, followed there after by bringing out a tank pet. You are such a good lil tank pet, I’ll heal you so long as you keep everything off me.

Yes there is also that. From a lore perspective night elves are the progenitors of druidism.
I do not know if any one else has OCD when it comes to races and what class theme they fit, but I sure do. For me, it has always been NE or Tauren for druids. Kind of how I feel the monk theme best fit Pandaren.

I feel the same here Night Elf and Tauren where the original Druid from classic wow and i was always thinking of making a Druid with those 2 race in mind.
