How get Jaina's Mount as a scrub?

If you can’t raid consistently with the same group of people and PuG everything what would be your strategy for getting Jaina’s water elemental mount before the end of the expansion? I’m afraid if I wait until after the expansion the drop rate will go down so low it won’t be worth it to farm any more.

Save up a few million gold and buy it from a guild group. Otherwise pray they don’t tank the drop rate until the next expac and try to get into a farm group later in the expac.

Remember, the Battle of Dazar’alor is BFA’s equivalent to the Nighthold. Before the end of Legion, many PUG groups were so geared that they were able to take down Mythic Gul’dan.

So, my recommendation is to wait until Azshara’s Palace or whatever raid is after that, then go and PuG Mythic Jaina.

I’m very poor. I started in legion and am not good at the gold earning game.

Then build your character up, join a guild, run the raid. That is how people did it for years.

Just to warn you though… That’s your best chance if you’re unwilling to dedicate the time and join a team to go for it. You are in no way guaranteed to acquire it before the expac is up pugging it. Remember that you have a 1 in 20 chance of receiving the mount (assuming no one else has it in the raid) and you can only do it once per week per character. So if you join groups of completely random players each week… it is entirely feasible that you never win the mount.

If you want to ensure that you acquire it, then do as Sorelai said. Build up your character and join a guild to run the raid later.

Edit: I’d also add that, just because the content will be obsolete… Mythic mechanics often require progression regardless of your group/gear.

Pug it when overgeared

Blizzard doesnt nerf mythic mounts to 1% until after the expac so that’s your time frame. As others noted pugging it constantly with different groups is going to be a very mediocre way of trying to get it, but you may get lucky.

In Legion they didn’t lower the drop rate until BfA pre-patch.

I like accepting the fact I can’t commit the time anymore, and I like just being happy for those who get to experience it. :man_shrugging:

I don’t think of it as “git gud” it’s more "make a clique " I’ve pugged heroic Uldir up to Zul with minimal experience in LFR with a bunch of other randos. I also pugged heroic argus the unmaker (on my mage) the night before BFA dropped. I had only been through the first 6 or so bosses on heroic once. I don’t even think that we wiped once on the argus kill. There are “good” players who just aren’t organized and can’t be bothered with scheduled content clearing. We gear up through events, pugging and M+.

The Mekkatorque fight looks like it’s designed to wipe people like us.

Well, if you’re still looking at this, you can get the mount if you’re a mythic scrub, but not a heroic scrub. Geared to 470 or so, a group of 20 can kill mythic Jaina and get 2 mounts to drop. If you do this for 10 weeks, you ought to get the mount. If you do this for 10 weeks with the same group, you will get the mount. Otherwise you can pay someone for a mount run, probably 400-800k gold.

Heroic gear with a scattering of M+ gear at 465 or higher is more than enough to do Jaina on Mythic right now with the cheese strat. Usually someone is there carrying who doesn’t have the mount yet; you just need enough people that can survive phase 1.

I already got it. I bought it outright after farming gold a ridiculous number of hours. It was the only deterministic way to guarantee it.

I got mine after using the Jaina cheeze strat several weeks ago. Our whole guild has almost all received the mount now since you get two mounts per run.
