How does your head canon understand Disc Priest?

Holy Priest, Shadow Priest - they’ve got a pretty clear profile. I’m wondering how you interpret Disc.

Disc is the Balance Druid of Priests.

They balance the use of holy magic and void magic.

Which has been a canon concept for ages making holy priest void elves fine.

Not in any way I can comment on here about.

They maintain the discipline to neither succumb to the Shadow nor being completely enraptured by the Light. They wield the power of matter and antimatter concurrently and require focus and control to do so.

Thematically it’s one of my favorite classes but I’ve never really played it, nor do I have a priest above level…25? If they could tank, probably new main.

Low Level Disc Priest is just… awful. Holy just scales infinitely better.

I don’t know about max level, I’ve never really gotten into the spec, but I can tell it feels bad at low levels.

I don’t consider “Void” to be its own unique element. I consider Light to be either “present” or “absent.” Where it is “present,” we have growing order and complexity and life and intellect and awareness. Where it is “absent,” we have the opposite of all this, an increase in entropy, as things collapse and degrade and become disordered and eventually dissolve to nothing.

To me, Light and Void magic are just “breathing in” and “breathing out” of the same magical force. Holy Priests reflect Light back and forth within an area to create localized areas of increased Light. Shadow Priests still use “Light” magic, but operate in a way to draw that Light away from their targets and keep it away, in order to degrade them. Discipline Priests, I think of as less ideological about HOW the Light is supposed to be used, and more concerned with utility and practicality, learning how to “breathe in” and “breathe out” and using Light magic as almost a scientific pursuit, mastering the magic for its own sake and for the sake of understanding it, rather than to promote a philosophical position, as Holy and Shadow Priests do.

Grey Jedi.

They might harm you, they might heal you. Depends on what your plans are at that moment.

They’re largely loners who don’t fit in, and are often mistreated by others.

it honestly sounds like a dps class that should have been like a melee fire based type of priest. light/fire with mace and punish sinners or something with holy water lol. idk, sounds like it’ll be the other ‘dark’ class and prolly shoudla since spriest is terrible and it always has been lol and how disc is now its wonky.

Its like Tron; they throw their frisbee at the guy.

I tend to ignore the shadow spells of discipline priests and see them as rules-focused light followers (while the holy priests are more compassion-focused).

They are just those nasty nuns you see in stories that smack kids hands while also touting good morals and whatnot.

Disc Priests carefully (without trying) walk the grey lines of light and dark magics.

I actually think of them as a Monk type class. Maybe what Fistweaver is. Something like that.
