How does your character feel about the Armistice?

I’ve been seeing a lot of debate around recently, on both factions, if this war should really be over at all. With that in mind, I’m curious… how does your character feel about the Armistice?

Most of my characters on either side aren’t convinced the war is ‘over’, but hope it is. None of them actively want to see it continue, even if they’re wary of the opposite faction for entirely justifiable reasons.

Eledris’s basic IC response is profound relief, in equal measure with enduring tension and paranoia.

He wants the peace to last, and would actively work to prevent any actions that might threaten it if confronted by such a situation. Multiple events that have happened during the faction wars have terrified and/or sickened him, and broadly speaking he wants no part in taking war to anyone else’s country. Additionally, he’s honestly kind of shocked that Quel’Thalas survived BfA, and doesn’t want it threatened again.

But he’s sure it will be, because he considers certain elements of both factions to be entitled, aggressive, and/or vengeful enough that someone is bound to screw it up sooner rather than later.

Loh’s opinions regarding it are a tad conflicted.

On one side, he’s for it since Zandalar needs some respite to recoup the losses caused by a civil war with Zul and the cowardly Alliance sneak attack to destroy the Golden Navy. He also, for the most part, does not harbor the same truly malicious ill that many orcs and forsaken who know only conflict with the Alliance do. It’s a bit hard to go “Hate the Draenei and KTs” when you either have next to no history of conflict with them or have a history who’s peaceful periods dramatically outweigh the conflict.

On the flip side, he also wants Zandalar to militarize and modernize. He has absolutely no trust for the main governing body of humans who he largely regards as violent barbarians. It also doesn’t help when members of the Alliance try to pin the crimes of Zul’s heretics on him for being a Zandalari considering that it was the Zandalari who waged the campaign to actually oust Zul while the Alliance essentially prolonged it by forcing the Zandalari to pay attention to them while they were invading his homeland.

This is also not accounting for the fact the Alliance literally brought over individuals who use the exact same magic as the heretics (void elves) who more or less showed up and started corrupting without hesitation, but actively wearing Alliance colors.

Generally speaking, Loh will support the Armistice so long as his Queen does, since he will always be loyal to the royal family (something derived from the Zanda caste system and Prelates more or less functioning as temple guards and royal guards normally). It, however, is a lie to say he doesn’t want to see the Alliance punished for their actions invading Zandalar, given them simply removing their military presence feels very hollow after they try and sack your homeland and murder your king.

(Statement): Unit Exacitor is neither relieved nor upset regarding the armistice. Mechagon joined the Alliance at the end of the war, and so he personally was never called upon to aid in the fighting.

Relief. Grief. A sense of numbness. Gen’s been fighting since the campaign in Northrend and the whole prospect of fighting the Alliance is, to him, pointless.

Even with the Night Elves’ reluctance to fulfill their end of trade agreements, the Alliance has almost always bent over backwards to keep the peace, and it has always been lunatics within the Horde, too eager to advance their own social positions through needless conflict, and almost always Orcs, that keep causing hideous amounts of casualties on both sides of the conflict, let alone the innocents caught in the middle.

Gen’s aware his stance makes him unpopular with a lot of ambitious Orcs, or ‘traditionalists’, but he’s also a Shaman and has become to see the hyper-aggressive impulses within his people’s society as a sickness rather than just ‘the way things are’, and he’s hoping that the end of the position of Warchief, the creation of a council and the dilution of Orc domination in Horde leadership the start of a purge of that level of ‘diseased’ thinking that keeps sapping away the Horde’s strength and influence.

Besides, if they want to ‘prove’ themselves, there’s Demon Cults, Quillboar, Pirates, Venture Company goons and no end of rampaging beasts and disasters for people to solve in Horde territory to begin with. Get our own home squared away and sorted before we even think about eyeballing the neighbors.

I know that seems like I’m being glib, but if this question ever comes up IC, I fully plan on basically just straight-up ripping off that monologue.

I’d actually be curious about Gen’s opinion towards groups like the Sindorei, Tauren and Zandalari who have the justification for being agitated and, in turn, are also unfortunately the kind of groups that said ambitious ‘traditionalists’ likely prey on to further their agenda.

How does my character feel about it? Hmmm…

The armistice is proving to be… Ineffective. We’re still fighting for resources in the alterac mountains, we’re still seeing Horde and Alliance invade each others respective territories, and trade with the Horde is still prohibited. We’re still in a civil war as far as i’m concerned, while Anduin doesn’t need to cover his rear end out of fear of what the Horde will Do.

As far as I’m concerned, it exists to protect the politicians and Big Wigs.

It was like going from feast to famine. Peace is terrible for beings who live off spreading pain and suffering. Why even be in the Horde if it licks the boots of that Light worshipping king and stops the slaughter?

As a draenei? Counting down the days until the next time the Horde decides to kill a bunch of innocent people.

Its a step in the right direction.

Zhii’s goal is not just peace, its complete unification of the Horde and Alliance into a mutual defensive pact for Azeroth. A coalition of this magnitude is still far off but he is still working towards it. That being said, two problems come up from both sides and are as follows:

  1. The Alliance was damaged way more then the Horde was and might seek revenge. Despite his best efforts to convince people that they can be trusted, even Zhii himself gives pause when things like Teldrassil are brought up. If the forth war ended now it would unfortunately be uneven and he worries one day the Alliance will ACTUALLY try wiping out other races.

  2. The Horde seems to talk about fighting the Alliance WAY more then the Alliance talks about fighting the Horde. Zhii has time to time walked though there cities under cover (wearing a red T-shirt) and concluded that parts of there culture are simply infested with hate. This sickness unfortunately cripples the Horde more then they realize and worries there unwarranted aggression against the Alliance will lead to there undoing.

It means that the Draenei have a lower chance of getting wiped out. Folks that want to see the opposing faction members dead means new mercenary recruits. So…she sees it as an absolute win.

Nakira here is thankful that it’s over, though she’s ignorant of the history between the two factions. One day she hopes to he able to visit the alliance cities despite nominally being part of the Horde.

My Draenei on Moon Guard, Saphilyn, is ripping out her hair that the alliance isn’t finishing off the Horde once again. She knows they’re going to instigate another war in a couple years and the same cycle will continue.

Ceadrith thinks this all has gone far better than anyone could have ever expected.

The Horde recovered and created a council system of leadership, which it always should have had. There are (I think?) no more forsaken being made because Sylvanas has been run off the planet (and dimension), which means the cycle of life isn’t being regularly violated for an egotistical and ultimately pointless, hate-fueled attempt at keeping a race of tortured souls who constantly lament their own existence going.

Ceadrith couldn’t care less about the relations between the Horde and the Alliance, so long as they’re not encroaching on Horde Territory, and the Horde isn’t aggressing on Alliance territory to ultimately endanger itself by provoking a reprisal.

That being said, work in the Barrens is much the same. The only difference is any Alliance spotted are asked to leave or escorted to their destinations instead of being killed.

Overall, general apathy.
