How does wow still not have a dps meter in game?

I mean, Details keeps track of those as well, so I’m not sure if this is an argument for or against damage meters.

The point was look at the deaths before the damage meters. Who cares if the addon tracks both of them?

This is a silly argument. Trust me, players are fully capable of looking at both at the same time. Also, people who die will have the lowest DPS so you will reach the same end conclusion. If your DPS is lower than someone who died mid-fight, you probably have some issues.

I come here to waste time and discuss things. Who cares if it includes responding to the occasional troll.

Respond away.

But you’re literally debating against a joke.

There’s wasting time and then there’s whatever you call that

Hey tried adding their own raid frames with hp bars and they are/were universally despised.

Why fix what isnt broken.

yeah, just a basic meter would be great. Add it to the UI with a checkbox so we can have it show, or not.
Doesnt NEED to be all that great…CLEARLY wouldnt be for the overly serious players, but like the UI changes, just offers more in the game so some of us who want a little more can have it without having to rely on so many addons.

The base UI has replaced a couple of the addons I used. If they could make a Farmhud type thing and maybe a basic DPS meter, it’d be nice.

No, they’re implying that the community would get toxic if dps meters were implemented and that right now, there are a lot of people who don’t use dps meters so they don’t get toxic over said meter.

It’s not even an argument. It’s just a dumb comment. You can tell they’ve never been a raid lead if they think it’s just “cHeCk DeAtHs,” as if that is the only problem or even a problem at all.

Depends on why youre using them.
Oxygen is toxic at certain levels…as are many foods. Even too much water can harm or kill a person.
DPS meters are great for those of us who want to make sure we’re not sandbagging in a group.
Also very likely necessary for some levels of M+, Id think.

Its mostly that clown who feels the need to post it all in chat to show off how much damage his overly geared circus show character got in content hes vastly overgeared for is where the eye rolling damage happens.

Another one that can’t take a joke.

Not always, DPS is per second so if someone pops off and uses all their cooldowns then jumps off the side their DPS will probably be at or near the top. Their overall damage will stop and be low but again not everyone knows how to use the meters correctly.

DPS is tracked as combat or real time, not time spent alive.

If you’re using details you should be using effective timing, which calculates your dps from the start of combat to the end of it.

And you’d be surprised at how many people are running around with a dps meter and you’d never know it. Meters doesn’t correlate to toxicity.

When I came back for Dragonflight, I uninstalled my damage meter, and I’m not going to use one going forward.

Without distilling it with the completely vapid response of “because there’s an addon”, the better reason is that, to just PLAY WoW, you don’t need one.

But once you get into much more “serious” raiding/ M+, you as a player are going to want one … and that solution exists. There is ABSOLUTELY a differentiation in gameplay.

If you make it part of the UI, you’re basically giving certain people a tool that they don’t need. It muddies the water. It add a layer of complexity without adding an meaningful reward.

For those that want more complexity, and many times need that complexity, it’s there.

That’s the better answer as to why it’s not default. In the end, it’s the same answer, but without feeling like you’re cutting someone off.

Huh? Why does everything have to have a reward at the end of it?
